The protagonist, Shion, receives a call from her estranged mother, who insists on arranging a marriage for her with a man significantly older and with a questionable background. Shion, who was neglected and financially exploited by her family after leaving home, vehemently refuses, having built a self-sufficient life through her online shop and a love for games and manga. Her family, from a prestigious but manipulative lineage, views her as a tool for a political marriage to reconnect with the main family.
Disturbed by the call, Shion seeks solace in her favorite online game, a shop management simulation set in a Japanese-style world. This game originated as a mini-game within an otome game where players assist the protagonist in defeating corrupted yokai. The online version takes place after the main story, with players managing shops and collecting materials to craft items, often interacting with the otome game's characters. Shion, a high-level player, is deeply invested in the game.
Suddenly, her computer screen turns blue, and she loses consciousness. She awakens in a room identical to her in-game shop, dressed in her character's attire and possessing her in-game inventory and wealth. A text file reveals she has been transported to the game's world due to a dimensional rift caused by the otome game's protagonist. This rift allows people from her world to be pulled into the game world, with no return path. She is allowed to bring one item (her smartphone) and her in-game shop. Her online shop in her original world has been closed by an unknown party.
Initially overwhelmed, Shion gradually accepts her new reality, finding relief in being free from her family's demands. She discovers that other visitors from her world have arrived before her, causing trouble by aggressively pursuing the game's male characters, leading to a general distrust of newcomers.
A few days later, Shion opens her shop, "Yorozuya," but initially has no customers due to the negative reputation of previous visitors. She is visited by a group, including a woman who reveals the previous visitors caused significant disturbances, even towards married characters. The woman's husband, a character named Shuuichiro, who appears ill, confirms this and is suspicious of Shion. Shion, however, is uninterested in romance and only wants to live peacefully. She proposes a contract: she will not approach the lord or his associates, and in return, Shuuichiro must seek medical attention. He agrees, and Shion begins her new life, focusing on running her shop and enjoying the freedom she has gained.
Later, Shion's shop begins to attract customers, including the woman who visited earlier, who is pleased with Shion's non-aggressive approach and the quality of her goods, particularly candles and lanterns. Shion realizes that while she has gained freedom, her favorite otome game characters have become real people, and her romantic interest, Touya, is now a tangible person, which dampens her romantic feelings. She is visited by another character, Ren, her former "most-pushed" character, a fox yokai, who, despite his allure, elicits no romantic feelings from her. Shion is content with her new life, focusing on her shop and enjoying her freedom from her past.
