The protagonist, a man with a notoriously unlucky disposition, dies after being hit by a truck while chasing a thief who stole his sister's birthday gift. He finds himself in a white space between life and death, confronting a "Life and Death Guide" who reveals his death was instantaneous and caused by a severe impact. The Guide explains that the protagonist's extreme misfortune, forty times the normal amount, was due to a clerical error in his reincarnation process, compounded by his high luck value which prevented his soul from being easily collected. This extreme misfortune had been partially mitigated by "life trajectory corrections" performed by the Guide, preventing him from suffering worse fates like wrongful imprisonment or losing his job.
The Guide then presents the protagonist with an "Otherworld Reincarnation Ticket" obtained from a "Life Galapon Lottery" he was unknowingly forced to participate in. This ticket allows him to reincarnate into another world with his memories intact, though his name will be erased. The protagonist, despite a desire to return to his original world, accepts his fate. He is reborn as Siegbert von Abel, the fourth son of a Duke in a medieval European-style world with magic and skills.
Upon awakening as a baby, Siegbert discovers he possesses several powerful skills granted as part of his reincarnation: "Growth Promotion," which enhances stat gains upon leveling up; "Appraisal Eye," allowing him to see detailed information about people and objects; and "Language Comprehension," enabling him to understand all languages. He also has a "Reincarnation Blessing" and the title "Lucky Person." His family, the Dukes of Abel, are wealthy and influential.
Siegbert's father, Gilbert, the Deputy Commander of the First Knights, and his uncle, Virilbart, a skilled magician known as the "Red Magician," visit him for his "Attribute First" ceremony, a ritual to determine a noble child's magical attributes. During the ceremony, Siegbert uses his "Concealment" skill to hide his true, exceptionally high stats and multiple magical attributes, revealing only a few common attributes and a high luck value, along with his title. This is done to avoid causing a stir, as his true potential is far beyond normal. His uncle, Virilbart, who also possesses an "Appraisal Eye," attempts to appraise Siegbert, but the Concealment skill successfully hides most of his abilities. However, the unusual combination of attributes and the high luck value, along with a surprisingly high magic power, raises some suspicion and concern among his family, particularly his father. Siegbert's mother, Lia, a beautiful and loving woman, is more accepting of his unique nature. The family decides to publicly disclose only his magical attributes, keeping his other extraordinary abilities a secret to protect him. Siegbert, now aware of his family's status and the world's magic system, resolves to navigate his new life, aiming to eventually become an adventurer to explore the world.
