Chapters 3 to 12 of this light novel introduce the central relationship between **Amihashi Riko**, a third-year middle school student and amateur voice actress, and **Akimura Kanna**, a first-year middle school student who collects "Pinkuma" merchandise. Their relationship, initially presented as a typical teenage romance, is immediately established as volatile, with their first scene depicting a breakup over the trivial matter of whether to put soy sauce or ketchup on their fried egg. However, this conflict is quickly resolved, and they are shown to be deeply affectionate, sharing intimate moments.
A significant new character introduced is **Itsukushima Etsu**, a wealthy young lady who is secretly in love with Kanna. Etsu, who considers herself to be "a little rich," is frustrated by Riko and Kanna's relationship and secretly observes them, hoping for their breakup. Etsu is aided in her observations and schemes by her butler, **Iwami Hisui**, who is also a teacher at their school. Hisui maintains a dual role, acting as Etsu's loyal servant while also fulfilling his duties as a teacher, often with a suggestive or teasing demeanor towards Etsu.
The narrative also touches upon school life and minor incidents. A teacher named **Kurata** is informed of various mishaps involving students, including Shinonome breaking a window, the teacher's sister causing a gas burner to malfunction, and Ogukuma breaking a volleyball. These events seem to serve as background color rather than major plot points.
Riko's passion for amateur voice acting is further explored as she records singing videos and takes on voice roles for fan-made games and anime. Notably, she is the voice of Kanna's beloved character, Pinkuma. This dual role becomes a point of contention and affection in their relationship, as Kanna calls Riko while she's recording, leading to Riko playfully adopting the Pinkuma persona to comfort Kanna.
Kanna's roommate, **Aihara Matsuri**, is introduced as a cheerful and somewhat masochistic individual who enjoys teasing Kanna. Matsuri is aware of Riko's voice acting and seems to have a playful, almost antagonistic relationship with Kanna.
A significant turning point occurs when Kanna and Riko's second-year classmates embark on a school trip. Etsu sees this as a prime opportunity to get closer to Kanna, believing Riko's absence will make Kanna vulnerable. However, Etsu's loud declaration of her intentions is overheard, causing embarrassment. Adding to the confusion, the students mistake Etsu and her butler, Hisui, for a couple due to their close relationship and Hisui's presence at Etsu's school.
Meanwhile, Riko finds herself in an unexpected situation. While on what appears to be a school trip, she is approached by **Shiragami Remi**, a college student working as an "event sister" at a hero show. Remi is suffering from influenza and needs a replacement performer, and she recognizes Riko as an amateur voice actress, suggesting Riko might be able to help. The chapters end with this potential new development for Riko.
