The story begins by detailing the arduous first life of Solfort Enuma, a man born without exceptional talent but possessed of an unyielding dream to become a hero. Inspired by childhood tales, he dedicated his entire life to swordsmanship, enduring mockery and hardship. Despite his relentless training, he remained "mediocre," only achieving the title of "village's best" because all truly talented individuals had left. His mercenary career exposed him to the brutal reality of war and the overwhelming power of "Heroes," god-like figures who dwarfed ordinary soldiers. The destruction of his home village solidified his singular focus, leaving him with only his sword and his dream. In his old age, Solfort, having developed a unique Od-bursting "flash" technique through decades of observation and struggle, finally confronted Aileen Delphore, "Humanity's Strongest" and one of the Empire's "Six Wings." He was easily defeated, dismissed as "half-baked," and died.
However, Solfort's life was not truly over. He awoke to find himself reincarnated as a young girl, retaining all his memories, skills, and his internal magic power, "Od," thanks to a casual request he once made to a mysterious mage for a second chance. Now named Sol, she discovered her new body, though small and lacking muscle, retained her combat prowess, implying her Od had been converted. This unexpected transformation filled her with renewed determination to finally achieve her dream of becoming the strongest hero.
Finding herself near Baraboa Fort, an imperial stronghold recently captured from the allied Laptenon and Bienis Kingdoms, Sol used her old-soul wisdom to feign innocence. She presented herself as a naive farm girl from the recently burnt Darda Village to a patrol led by Nadd Hart, a young, insecure imperial soldier from a merchant family. Nadd, who harbored deep-seated insecurities from being rejected as his family's heir, was assigned as Sol's reluctant caretaker. Sol's blunt advice and superior skill in a mock battle quickly shattered Nadd's pride, leading to resentment and avoidance.
Sol found a more receptive ear in Baldo, her pragmatic squad leader. A veteran weary of war, Baldo dismissed Sol's hero aspirations as childish but treated her with a gruff kindness, sharing his desire to return to his family. He informed Sol that Aileen Delphore had left, and another "Six Wings" member, Rosbern Lastimain, was expected.
The fort's temporary commander, eager for glory, launched a preemptive strike on the allied Dera Outpost, leaving Baraboa Fort lightly defended. Sol, assigned to defense, anticipated a counter-attack based on her vast experience. That night, the allied forces, led by powerful heroes like Bogaart Ramholt and Teerich Gardi, launched a surprise assault. Sol headed to the Eastern Magic Room, a crucial defensive point, where she encountered Teerich Gardi, "The Last Knight" of Laptenon. In an honorable one-on-one duel, Sol, leveraging her intimate knowledge of his fighting style from her past life and her Od-burst technique, defeated the veteran knight. Teerich, recognizing a familiar spirit, died with honor. Sol, exhausted from Od depletion, collapsed.
Meanwhile, Nadd, paralyzed by fear, abandoned his post and hid in the backyard. He discovered the unconscious Sol and, despite his lingering resentment, carried her to safety. In the Northern Magic Room, Baldo and his men made a desperate last stand against Bogaart Ramholt, a formidable Laptenon hero who wielded an enchanted greatsword and powerful fire magic. Baldo's suicidal charge was easily crushed by Bogaart's overwhelming power. Bogaart then entered the backyard, discovering Nadd. As Bogaart prepared to strike, Sol, having partially recovered, intervened, saving Nadd. Sol now faces Bogaart, a powerful new challenge, as he unleashes a devastating barrage of fire magic.
