The story begins with the Demon King, Jarkray, reflecting on his millennia-long reign and his defeat at the hands of five young heroines, the "War Maiden Heroines." These five, described as teenagers, have managed to reach him despite his immense power, a feat that would have astounded previous heroes. The world has undergone a significant shift, with women vastly outnumbering men after a past war, leading to a near-extinction of humanity.
The five heroines, each with distinct personalities and appearances, confront Jarkray. They are Shaini, the leader with sunset-colored hair; Anest, the studious mage with blue hair and immense magical power; Lovely, the cheerful archer with beige hair; Divias, the fierce warrior with red hair; and Kiruru, the cold assassin with chestnut hair. Shaini requests Jarkray reveal his true face, a request the others echo. Jarkray, resigned to his defeat, removes his mask, revealing himself to be a surprisingly young and handsome man with silver hair.
The heroines are shocked by his appearance, stammering in disbelief. Jarkray, seeing their reaction, explains his ageless nature. He then declares his acceptance of defeat, expressing no regrets and even finding honor in being defeated by such strong and beautiful warriors. His words, particularly calling them "beautiful," cause the heroines to blush and become flustered. Jarkray, misinterpreting their reaction as a lack of self-awareness about their beauty, further compliments them and jokingly remarks that if he had won, he would have taken them for himself.
This statement, however, is misinterpreted by the heroines as a confession of love and a proposal. They erupt in excitement, declaring that they must marry him. Jarkray is utterly bewildered as they rush towards him, not to deliver the final blow, but to embrace him and claim him as their own. They decide he will be "protected" and that the war is over. Each heroine expresses her desire to be his partner, calling him "Jarkun" and arguing amongst themselves over who he belongs to.
Jarkray realizes the drastic societal shift: with a severe gender imbalance, women are now the active pursuers in relationships, and men are passive. His casual words, intended as a final, albeit flippant, remark, have triggered their desires. Despite his protests and desire for a dignified death, the heroines decide to take him with them, declaring him dead to the outside world.
In a desperate attempt to escape his fate, Jarkray tries to self-destruct using a forbidden spell. However, Shaini severs his horns, disrupting the spell. Anest then restrains him with powerful magic, Lovely pierces his limbs with magical arrows, Divias lands a debilitating blow, and Kiruru incapacitates him with a drug. They then reveal they have implanted the "Jewel of Eternal Subjugation" into him, a powerful artifact that prevents him from harming them or escaping.
Jarkray awakens in a luxurious mansion, realizing he is now bound to the heroines. He discovers his horns have not regenerated and the jewel is embedded in his chest. The heroines, now living with him, explain their decision to fake their deaths and his, creating a peaceful life for themselves away from the world's judgment. They intend to share him amongst themselves, leading to constant bickering and possessiveness.
The narrative then shifts to the heroines' extreme reactions to Jarkray's presence and their warped understanding of love. When a band of female bandits attacks the mansion, the heroines, despite their immense power, display a disturbing lack of mercy, torturing and killing them with brutal efficiency, all in the name of protecting Jarkray. Jarkray, witnessing this, realizes the true danger they pose, not just to him, but potentially to the world. He manages to escape the mansion during the chaos, but the heroines, using a powerful projection magic, locate him and force him to return, their obsession overriding any sense of reason or self-preservation. The story ends with Jarkray trapped in a cycle of their possessive affection and the looming threat of their warped sense of love.
