Description
Princess Mariente, the fourth daughter, is rumored to be fond of men and dissolute.
In reality, it was merely her half-sister, Delizia, hailed as the kingdom's most beautiful princess, who was impersonating Mariente, committing scandalous acts and pinning them on her.
Mariente herself lives in a secluded cottage, secretly venturing into the castle town to work as a waitress at a tavern run by her foster brother, making her a truly down-to-earth princess.
Troubled that the scandals were now reaching other nations, the King decides to bestow Mariente in marriage as a reward for military victories.
It is decided that she will become the second wife of Count Bacchem, a man of fifty years. On the eve of the wedding ceremony,
Mariente, as usual, was working at the tavern in the castle town.
