Silur Bedite, a young pharmacist, manages her family's shop, "Bedite Pharmacy," which locals mistakenly call a "fortune-telling parlor." Silur possesses a unique ability: she sees "prediction lines" above people's heads, colored strands indicating their emotions and future events. While she can discern general outcomes like joy, sorrow, or injury, she cannot pinpoint the exact cause or see her own lines. She inherited this power from her family, a lineage of healing magic users, and fears revealing her true magical abilities to the authorities, especially knights, who might exploit her. Despite her reluctance, her kind nature often leads her to offer advice, solidifying her reputation as a fortune teller, much to her chagrin.
One day, Silur encounters the renowned "Flower Knight," Hector Alderide, a strikingly handsome knight rumored to be a womanizer. Silur, however, sees only lines of pain and disgust above his head, revealing his true nature as a woman-hater. She actively avoids him, but fate intervenes when she sees a "death line" above his head and impulsively pulls him from the path of a runaway carriage, saving his life. This incident, coupled with her earlier, indirect warning about pirates that saved the town from a major attack (interpreted by the knights as mere "fortune-telling"), draws Hector's attention.
Hector, intrigued by Silur's uncanny predictions, investigates her. He confronts her at her shop, using his charm to extract information. Silur, seeing through his facade, remains guarded. During their tense conversation, Silur notices a deep, invisible "magic affliction" in Hector's right hand, the source of his chronic pain and the reason he cannot properly wield a sword, forcing him to fight left-handed. This injury was sustained six years prior while protecting his childhood friend, First Prince Kaios. Despite her desire to avoid knights, Silur's empathy and sense of responsibility compel her to offer a special healing medicine for his hand, establishing a secret, ongoing relationship.
Hector, a lonely figure who uses his charm to gather information for Kaios and hide his pain, finds himself genuinely interested in Silur, who sees past his facade. Their relationship deepens during a herb-gathering trip in the forest, where Silur reveals the limitations of her power, and Hector protects her from a magic beast. They begin to understand each other, moving past initial annoyance and suspicion. To maintain secrecy, Silur suggests Hector visit on her day off. Later, Silur observes a faint, translucent "love line" above Hector's head, indicating an unconscious first love. Though she doesn't know the object of his affection, she hopes he finds happiness, unaware that his growing interest in her is evolving into something more profound. The chapters conclude with Silur and Hector establishing a routine of secret meetings, their bond growing stronger as they navigate their shared secrets and evolving feelings.
