Glenn, a desperate ten-year-old orphan, ventures into the secluded Northern Forest to find the mythical Demon Lord. His six-year-old sister, Mireia, has been kidnapped by the powerful Willard Merchant Guild, a slave-trading organization protected by the corrupt Lord. With no other recourse, Glenn, driven by unwavering resolve, seeks the rumored wish-granting Demon Lord. He eventually reaches a vast grassland and is led by a soft-spoken fox-human named Rita to a surprisingly cozy, handmade house, not the terrifying "Demon Lord's Castle" of legend.
Here, Glenn meets the household's eccentric members: Rita, the kind housekeeper; Elena, a red-haired human knight focused on chivalry and training; and Ashley, a white-winged demon-human "Sage of the Forest." Finally, the grumpy, unmotivated young man, Alfred, the Demon Lord of the Bountiful Forest, returns. Alfred, possessing mind-reading abilities, quickly understands Glenn's plight but initially refuses to help, valuing his peaceful evening with his daughter. However, Alfred's six-year-old beast-human daughter, Sylvia, becomes distraught upon learning of the orphaned children and kidnapped sister. Her innocent tears and insistence, supported by the other women, compel a reluctant Alfred to agree to the rescue.
The rescue mission to the Willard Merchant Guild's city building is swift and brutal. Alfred and Elena effortlessly dispatch guards and break through barriers using inexplicable, almost mundane methods, such as Alfred throwing small "beans" that cause instant death. Glenn is reunited with Mireia and other children. Outside, they are confronted by thirty armed men led by Willard. Alfred, still annoyed, casually eliminates Willard and his forces, showcasing his immense, absurd power.
After the rescue, Alfred brings Glenn and Mireia home. Sylvia immediately declares Alfred their new father, a pronouncement that, despite Alfred's protests, is accepted by the household. Alfred laments the further loss of his lazy life, reflecting on how Rita, Elena, and Ashley had already added responsibilities. Glenn begins training with Elena, while Mireia undergoes a disturbing transformation: she performs nightly "prayers" to Alfred with a knife and black cloth, muttering curses, and misinterpreting Sylvia's innocent words as dark pronouncements of Alfred's power.
To bridge the communication gap between Sylvia and the humans, Alfred purchases an expensive translation necklace. While it allows them to speak, Mireia's dark interpretations persist, leading to comically misunderstood conversations.
Meanwhile, the corrupt Lord Tolkin of Registaria, whose illicit income was severed by Alfred's actions, becomes desperate. His attempts to gather intelligence on Alfred's group yield only absurd reports of their domestic life. Enraged, Tolkin unleashes the "Mad Dog's Fangs," a notorious mercenary group, to conquer the Bountiful Forest. Unbeknownst to Tolkin, the "Mad Dog's Fangs" are not the fearsome killers of rumor but a reluctant and terrified group forced into an impossible mission. The story concludes with the mercenaries hesitantly approaching Alfred's home, dreading the impending confrontation.
The chapter arc transforms Glenn from a desperate orphan into a member of a strange, powerful, and surprisingly domestic family, while setting the stage for an external conflict with a corrupt lord and his unwilling enforcers. The initial perception of the Demon Lord is completely subverted, revealing a powerful but lazy father figure whose actions have far-reaching, often comedic, consequences. Mireia's unsettling transformation adds a dark, humorous twist to the new family dynamic.
