The story begins with the protagonist, Alma, a 15-year-old boy from the esteemed Fellows family, visiting the grand temple to receive his divine gift, a special ability granted to everyone at that age. His father, a powerful mage with the "Sage" gift, and his mother, a "Magician," have high expectations for Alma, hoping he inherits a similar magic-related gift, like his older brothers who received "Crimson Mage" and "Violet Lightning Mage" respectively. However, to everyone's shock, Alma is declared to have no gift. His father, initially furious and then deeply disappointed, publicly disowns and banishes Alma, branding him a "useless person" and a disgrace to the family.
Cast out with only 50,000 gold, Alma finds himself in a tavern, overwhelmed by grief and the whispers of the crowd who recognize him. He is accosted by adventurers demanding money, further fueling his despair. Just as he laments his situation, a voice announces the activation of his gift: "Reincarnator." This gift allows him to retain his abilities and memories from a past life. Alma realizes he had already possessed this gift, and his first life was dedicated to becoming the world's strongest mage, a solitary and ultimately empty pursuit. Now, his immense magical power surges uncontrollably, causing many in the tavern to faint. He quickly learns to control his magic and incapacitates a knight who attempts to arrest him, before healing the unconscious patrons and leaving.
Alma plans to travel west out of the Elistella Empire and then head to the Familia Kingdom. While heading to the carriage stop, he is confronted by his older brother, Keith, who reveals a deep-seated jealousy and hatred for Alma, stemming from always being compared to his younger brother. Keith attacks Alma, intending to kill him. Alma, now possessing his past life's knowledge, uses earth magic, a skill Keith was unaware of, to defend himself. He then uses spatial magic to reposition himself and traps Keith in an earth prison, informing him he is leaving the continent.
Later, while traveling by carriage, Alma reflects on his goal of happiness and decides his immediate objective is to prove the Fellows family wrong by succeeding. He arrives at the commercial city of Talistera with dwindling funds. He discovers his past life's abilities have returned, but his level is reset to 1. He also accesses his "Item Box," a spatial storage filled with powerful weapons and rare materials from his previous life. Realizing he can sell these materials to fund his journey, he heads to the Adventurer's Guild.
At the guild, he meets Raul, a kind and struggling adventurer who helps him navigate the process of selling his materials. To their astonishment, the rare materials fetch an incredible 2.5 million gold. Raul, indebted to Alma for his kindness and the help he provided, is overjoyed. Shortly after, a young woman named Luna approaches them. She reveals she has been tailing Alma and invites both him and Raul to her remote territory in the Familia Kingdom, which she believes has a hidden underground labyrinth. Despite initial confusion and Raul's own struggles, they agree to accompany Luna, seeing it as an opportunity. Alma, having found a potential friend in Raul, is motivated to contribute to Luna's territory development.
