**Chapter 3-12 Summary:**
Following a major incident, the household of Ishitobi Ichiro has settled into a new routine. Ichiro, no longer logging into Narofan, now manages his affiliated companies remotely. The addition of a new resident has brought more liveliness to the house. As autumn arrives, Ichiro and Sakurako are engrossed in a new 3D handheld game, a popular hunting title. Despite Sakurako's extensive experience with the series, Ichiro and Rosemary, a new resident, quickly master the game's mechanics, leaving Sakurako feeling outmatched and nostalgic for their first encounter in Narofan, where she also felt outpaced by Ichiro. Ichiro and Rosemary demonstrate an uncanny ability to strategize and execute complex maneuvers, even calculating monster stagger values. Sakurako finds herself relegated to a supportive role, performing minor attacks while Ichiro and Rosemary handle the main combat. A friendly wager between Ichiro and Rosemary over the number of shots needed to defeat a monster highlights their precision and Ichiro's confidence.
Sakurako reflects on her past, recalling a similar experience in Narofan where she was quickly surpassed by Ichiro. Ichiro notes Sakurako's lack of jealousy towards more skilled players, contrasting her with other veteran players he's encountered. Sakurako attributes her humility to a childhood experience. She then recounts her past as part of the "PPC" sibling trio (Plum, Peach, Cherry), renowned for their undefeated streak in various games across Japan. At twelve years old, Sakurako, with her charming appearance and ruthless playstyle, was a formidable force. Their dominance left them craving a truly challenging opponent. This desire leads them to accept an invitation to a "Gamer Grand Tournament" in Nagoya, organized by the Meijo University Cyber Research Club, featuring the "strongest gamer in the Tokai area," YRK.
The narrative shifts to the tournament itself. The PPC siblings arrive in Nagoya, facing initial setbacks like a TV channel dispute and the discovery that the tournament venue is a rundown arcade called "Arcadia." They encounter Takeshima, a former "Kaiser" and an OB of the Cyber Research Club, who reveals that YRK is the current "Kaiser" and the club's number one gamer. The tournament's true nature is revealed: a "ganslinger" style competition where players earn "stars" by defeating others, with the goal of accumulating ten stars to challenge YRK. The tournament is orchestrated by the Cyber Research Club to promote YRK and the arcade, which is slated for closure.
The PPC siblings participate, with Ichiro quickly adapting to the fighting game mechanics. While Ichiro excels, Sakurako struggles against skilled players, and her brother, Umeyama, despite his prowess, is decisively defeated by YRK in a shocking thirty-second match. YRK, revealed to be a woman named Hondo Seriko, displays overwhelming skill and a theatrical, villainous persona, which is later revealed to be an act orchestrated by a club member. Sakurako, deeply affected by her brother's defeat and YRK's arrogance, sneaks back to the arcade later that night. She encounters YRK and her associates, who explain their motives: to create a memorable event for the closing arcade and honor the owner's wish. YRK expresses her passion for games and the changing landscape of the industry, lamenting the potential loss of arcades. Sakurako, though initially intimidated, begins to understand YRK's perspective. The siblings eventually leave, but the experience leaves a lasting impact on Sakurako.
Later, during a Christmas Eve party at Ichiro's home, the guests discuss their childhood beliefs about Santa Claus. The conversation takes a surprising turn when Sakurako reveals that Ichiro, at 22, still believed in Santa. This revelation leads to a discussion about the nature of belief, fantasy, and the evolving world of gaming. Meanwhile, in the virtual world of Narofan, Iris (formerly Iris Brand's leader) is approached by the PK guild "Anti-Cross," who, despite their villainous reputation, propose she become their leader, citing her "evil potential." Iris, struggling with the burden of leadership and the perception of being influenced by Ichiro, initially refuses but is deeply affected by their words. She retreats to a forest map, where she encounters a masked swordsman and, in an act of defiance against her perceived "evil nature," decides to help him, seeking validation for her own goodness.
The story concludes with Ichiro, inspired by Sakurako's stories and his own evolving understanding of the gaming world, deciding to visit an arcade with Sakurako and Rosemary, seeking to understand the legacy of YRK and the enduring spirit of arcades.
