Millennia have passed since humanity ventured into space.

Upon volunteering for the military to make ends meet, Kenji Tanaka discovered he possessed a special ability called "nenpa" and an aptitude for piloting humanoid weapons, "Combat Armors." Despite always wishing to change careers, he served as a Senior Colonel in the Pan-Galactic Republic Space Force Special Operations Unit.

As Kenji was on his way back after quelling a regularly occurring planetary rebellion, he was suddenly swallowed by a black hole that appeared out of nowhere, only to wake up in a world of swords and magic.

And his soul had transmigrated into the body of Elol, the heir to the Grach family, who were 'Goushi,' the lowest rank of nobility (landed gentry).

Kenji learns that this world contains humanoid weapons powered by magic, called 'Mashou Kijin,' along with their superior counterparts, 'Mashou Kishin.' He also discovers that most 'Operators' capable of piloting them are nobles, and that these nobles dominate and support the world.

"Even so, I am merely a 'Goushi' of the lowest noble rank," he declares. "I'll use the Mashou Kijin to develop my territory and live a modestly wealthy life."

Kenji, who had believed ever since his military days that getting involved with those in power never ended well, attempts to live a moderately prosperous life as the lord of a rural domain. However, thanks to his skills as an ace pilot in his previous life and his immense magical power, he gradually begins to attract attention.
