The protagonist, Manauta Mikagi, discovers he has a "Hunter" vocation and several innate skills, including "Sniper" and "Material Storage," after a strange status screen appears during his teenage years. His adoptive father, the head of Isagiri Industries, a company specializing in disaster prevention equipment, reveals that the company's fame stems from an incident where a generator malfunction opened a portal to another world, from which a Tyrannosaurus Rex and a horse-drawn carriage emerged. His father admits that Manauta himself might not be from Earth, having adopted a young girl who appeared from that carriage.
During a summer job at his father's company, Manauta witnesses a large-scale experiment involving the opening of an interdimensional gate. The experiment goes awry, and Manauta is transported to another world through a suddenly enlarged gate. He finds himself in a forest, with his modified hybrid car, equipped with weaponry, as his sole possession. He is immediately attacked by a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which he manages to kill using the car's mounted gun, a feat that surprisingly causes the creature's corpse to disappear, hinting at his "Material Storage" skill.
Manauta discovers his car is equipped with various survival gear and weapons, including a compound crossbow and specialized ammunition. He also finds a golden apple, which, upon consumption, transforms into a regular, peach-flavored apple, and later disappears. He encounters Jeanne, a former slave and a "Saint Swordsman" in this new world, who is searching for a "Fruit of Life" to cure a princess. Jeanne, initially wary of Manauta's destructive power, agrees to guide him to a human settlement after he shares his limited food supplies and helps her disguise his car as a horse-drawn wagon to pass through a checkpoint.
They travel to the Protest Duke's territory, where Manauta is welcomed by the Duke's daughter, Maria, and is offered lodging. He learns about the world's political structure, including the four nations and the concept of "Jobs" and "Skills," with "Post-natal Skills" being rare and acquired through unusual actions. Manauta's skills are further defined: "Sniper" allows for automatic aiming, "Arrow Crafting" enables the creation of ammunition from materials, "Bow and Arrow Storage" allows him to store various projectile weapons, and "Material Storage" can store items and even monster corpses. He also gains "Otherworldly Language" and "Mental Resistance," the latter of which helped him remain calm after killing the Tyrannosaurus.
While waiting for the Duke to return and arrange for his transport, Manauta spends his days hunting and utilizing his skills. He eventually meets the Duke, Karl, who is impressed by Manauta's abilities and agrees to help him. Jeanne reveals that Manauta's intervention was crucial in obtaining the Fruit of Life, which was intended for her to retrieve. The story concludes with Manauta contemplating his future in this new world, considering his unique abilities and the potential for a "Hunter" profession, while also dealing with the mundane realities of his situation, such as the lack of proper bathing facilities and repetitive meals.
