Description
As the illegitimate child of Count Lennon, Mia felt she had no place within the Count's household or at school. She deeply loved her fiancé, Tristan, the Marquess's son, who was the only one kind to her. She believed Mia and Tristan were mutually in love... until Jacqueline, Mia's half-sister and Tristan's childhood friend, appeared.
It turned out Tristan was originally meant to be engaged to Jacqueline, his half-sister born to the Countess, not Mia, the illegitimate child of a commoner mistress. When Jacqueline was six, she was suddenly adopted by the Hammond Ducal House, a related family, and became a candidate for the First Prince's fiancée. Mia had only been brought into the Count's household to become engaged to Tristan in Jacqueline's stead.
Despite being a candidate for the First Prince's fiancée, Jacqueline was rumored to be romantically involved with the legitimate son of the ducal house she was adopted into. This caused the First Prince to dislike her. The kind Tristan couldn't abandon his isolated childhood friend, Jacqueline. Because Tristan took an interest in her, Jacqueline's position worsened, with people increasingly labeling her as promiscuous and a man-chaser. When she turned fifteen, Jacqueline's candidacy as the First Prince's fiancée was finally dissolved, and she returned from the ducal house to the Count's household, where Mia lived.
Tristan told Mia, "Let's all get along, the three of us: Jacqueline, Mia, and me. Jacqueline says she wants that too." From the very next day, Tristan and Jacqueline began to behave as if they were engaged.
During the year-end dance party, just three months before Mia and Tristan were to graduate from the Magic Academy—and thus, three months before their wedding—Tristan declared he was breaking off his engagement with Mia and becoming engaged to Jacqueline.
This is a spin-off featuring Jacqueline, the former friend of the protagonist Melissa from "Please Don't Mind Me, Continue As You Were," and her half-sister Mia.
I started writing this to celebrate passing the second round of judging for the Net Novel Awards 11.
While I intend for it to be enjoyable even without reading the main story, I believe you will enjoy it more if you do read the main story. (Mia and Tristan do not appear in the main story.)
