The story begins with Haru Tajima finding himself on a beach under a night sky with two moons and a brilliant display of stars. He quickly realizes he's no longer on Earth, as the celestial bodies are alien. His last memory is playing a mobile game during a part-time job break. He discovers a strange red blinking "NEW!" notification in his vision, which soon transforms into a game-like interface, announcing "ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!! FIRST ACCESS" and offering a tutorial.
The tutorial, guided by a dolphin-like fairy named Curio, reveals that Tajima has been transported to a new world called Rodina Continent. He learns he's a shipwreck survivor washed ashore on the island nation of Lydia. The tutorial introduces him to a status window displaying his HP, MP, and other stats, and the concept of magic. He attempts to cast a fire spell, "Kagutsuchi," with devastating, uncontrolled power that obliterates a section of the sea, earning him the "FIRST MISSION" achievement.
Shortly after, Tajima encounters a patrol of soldiers from the Kingdom of Lydia: Sergeant Bridget Gaelic, a skilled archer; Helios, a formidable warrior; and Simon, a younger soldier. They are investigating a strange pillar of fire. Tajima, trying to explain his presence, inadvertently uses the fabricated backstory of being a shipwrecked merchant from a southern island nation, which the soldiers interpret as him being a "Hero" from "Britannia," a legendary figure who established Lydia. This misunderstanding leads to him being treated with a mix of suspicion and reverence.
Tajima learns about the world's lore from Simon, including the existence of elves, demi-humans, and monsters, and the history of a powerful hero who founded Lydia. He also discovers that he possesses a unique "ALV" stat, which others lack, and that his interface allows him to "appraise" objects and people, revealing their stats.
During their journey to a nearby garrison, they are ambushed by a group of demi-humans. Tajima, witnessing the battle and the soldiers' struggle, uses his magic again, this time with more control, to defeat the attackers. This act further solidifies the soldiers' belief that he is a hero. He also witnesses Bridget's impressive swordsmanship and Helios's brutal efficiency in combat.
They are then intercepted by a royal escort, led by a stern knight named Wolf, who are searching for Princess Lily Prospector. Lily, who appears as a young girl but possesses immense magical power and a high "ALV" stat, is revealed to be the one who was supposedly kidnapped. Tajima's earlier magic use and his unusual behavior lead the soldiers to believe he was involved in some sort of "heroic training" or ritual.
Lily, despite her apparent blindness and childlike demeanor, demonstrates incredible power and healing abilities, healing Helios's injuries and revealing her true identity as the Princess of Etruria. She also displays a peculiar interest in Tajima's "heroic" actions and his unique abilities.
The narrative concludes with Tajima being taken to a garrison, where he is treated as a distinguished guest due to his perceived heroic status. He learns that the world is in a state of war and that the concept of "Heroes" is tied to a religion. He also discovers that his interface, including the "ALV" stat and the ability to appraise, is unique to him, suggesting a deeper connection to this world than he initially understood. He receives a reward of silver coins and is offered lodging and guidance, setting him on a path to understand his new reality and his place within it.
