Note: This is the serialized version of the short story 'On This Day, I, the 'False Hero,' Expelled Him, the 'True Hero,' from the Party.' It was initially posted as an impulse submission to commemorate the Reiwa era, hence the irregular serialization.

On this day, having repelled one of the Demon Lord's Eight Generals, Foyle, a hero, expelled Yu, another member of the hero's party. Yu possessed no title—the proof of power in this world—his status remaining blank. The other party members, the swordsman and the mage, ridiculed Yu as a mere burden.

However, Foyle knew the truth. He understood that Yu's power was largely responsible for their victories against the Demon Lord's Army. And he knew that the very Yu he expelled was the 'True Hero,' while he himself was merely a 'False Hero,' destined to be Yu's stepping stone.
