Lady Evelyn of the Milburn Ducal House, one of the Eight Great Ducal Houses, was scheduled to marry in two months.
Her fiancé was Bernard, the heir of the Taylor House, also one of the Eight Great Ducal Houses.
However, he brought a commoner girl into the estate and, to make matters worse, dressed her in Evelyn's dresses and jewels, whispering words of love to her.
What's more, she was pregnant with his child, and he declared he would eventually cast Evelyn aside and take the girl in as his mistress.
Evelyn, playing the part of an understanding fiancée, methodically began preparing to lead them to their downfall.
