The story begins with Hinami, a 21-year-old university student working part-time at a cafe, receiving a frantic call from her mother. Her younger sister, Hana, who has been battling an unknown illness for four years, has suddenly taken a turn for the worse and is in emergency surgery. Hinami rushes to the university hospital, where she waits anxiously with her parents. Hana's illness, diagnosed as "unknown," has severely affected her respiratory system, leading to the emergency surgery with an uncertain outcome.
While waiting, Hinami is approached by a mysterious voice claiming to be a god. The god offers to save Hana in exchange for "everything" Hinami possesses. Desperate, Hinami agrees. Immediately after, Hana's surgery is declared a success. However, Hinami is then transported to a dark void where she meets the god, Rigris. Rigris reveals that Hana is fully cured and that Hinami has been transported to a different world, "Retisriel," as his "toy" to entertain him. He explains that Hinami will be sent to an unfamiliar world to struggle, and he will gain points from her actions.
Hinami is then sent to Retisriel, finding herself in a forest. She discovers she has been de-aged to 13 years old and is equipped with a "Status" screen, skills like "God's Garden" (allowing her to create a safe sanctuary) and "Light Rhapsody" (a defensive song-based skill), and a title, "Rigris's Blessing." Rigris also provides her with a house in the forest, a garden, and various tools. She learns to cultivate plants and create potions, discovering her aptitude for alchemy and potion-making. Her potions, particularly the healing ones, are exceptionally potent and delicious, a stark contrast to the foul-tasting potions common in this world.
After two years, Hinami, now 15, has established a comfortable life in her sanctuary, cultivating crops and making potions. She encounters two children, Cynthia and Kilt, who are attacked by monsters. Hinami rescues them with her potions and hospitality, learning that Cynthia is a noble and Kilt her guard. They reveal that the forest has become a "Forest of Bewilderment," making it difficult to navigate. Hinami, realizing the danger and her own limitations in combat, decides to venture into the nearby town with them.
In town, Hinami registers as an adventurer at the Guild, obtaining a Guild Card that reveals her stats and skills. She learns that her ability to grow medicinal herbs and create delicious potions is highly unusual and valuable. She sells her potions to Cynthia's father, Count Clef, a knight, for a significant sum, earning a large amount of money and the promise of future patronage. She also learns about the world's currency, social structure, and the existence of "cursed slaves" who are bound by a curse and can be freed after five years of service.
Hinami's journey continues as she navigates the complexities of Retisriel, seeking to repay Rigris's kindness and find her place in this new world, all while dealing with the challenges of her unique abilities and the dangers that lurk beyond her sanctuary.
