The story begins with a thirty-year-old male VTuber otaku, whose life revolves around his favorite virtual streamers, being mugged and tied up in a dilapidated building in America. He had traveled there for a major international VTuber event but got lost. After being shot in the head, he experiences a strange phenomenon: he can clearly understand the armed men's conversation about a mission involving millions of lives and kidnapping a woman, and sees a white, angelic figure before losing consciousness.
He awakens to find himself reincarnated as Iroha, an elementary school girl in modern Japan. While retaining his male consciousness and VTuber obsession, he struggles with fragmented memories of his past life and the unfamiliarity of his new identity. A significant discovery is his newfound ability to perfectly understand and speak English, a skill he lacked before his death. This allows him to fully enjoy English-speaking VTuber streams, especially those of his top "oshi," Anguogue.
Iroha's childhood friend, Mai, a clumsy and easily flustered girl, accompanies her to school. During their commute, they encounter a large, intimidating foreigner. While Mai is terrified, Iroha uses her new English skills to help the man, who had lost his phone and was mistaken for a suspicious person. This event further highlights Iroha's unusual linguistic ability.
Later, Iroha is called to the home of Mai's older sister, A-nee, a "gyaru"-style friend from her past life. To Iroha's shock and internal horror, A-nee reveals herself to be Anegasaki Mone, one of Iroha's beloved VTubers. A-nee, needing a last-minute substitute for a Japanese-English quiz collaboration with Anguogue, persuades a reluctant Iroha to join the stream as a translator. Iroha, torn between her fan ideals and the chance to interact with her oshi, agrees.
The collaboration stream is chaotic but successful. Iroha, despite her internal turmoil and exhaustion, navigates the playful antics of A-nee and Anguogue. Her accidental catchphrase, "Otsukare-ter Alligator," goes viral, making her an internet sensation. Seizing the opportunity, A-nee convinces Iroha to make a full VTuber debut as "Translation Girl Iroha," funding the extensive preparations herself. Iroha initially resists, but A-nee's persuasive "VTuber voice" proves irresistible.
The debut preparations are arduous, including securing parental permission by achieving perfect scores in school tests for a month. Iroha, despite her adult mind, finds this surprisingly challenging. After a month and a half, Iroha debuts with a Q&A stream alongside A-nee. She discovers she's tone-deaf but her English translation skills are flawless.
Seeking content ideas, Iroha decides to stream her "everyday life as an elementary school girl," which unexpectedly makes Mai a running gag. Facing parental pressure for middle school entrance exams due to her improved grades, Iroha plans a "VTuber Academic Test" stream, hoping to demonstrate the difficulty and deter them. A-nee and other prominent VTubers join, turning it into a major event. To Iroha's dismay, she unexpectedly wins the test, primarily because the other VTubers performed poorly or treated it as a comedy, and her recent studying paid off. This victory backfires, only strengthening her parents' resolve for her to take the exams, leaving Iroha frustrated and her journey into the VTuber world continuing its unpredictable course.
