The story picks up with the protagonist, Akito, being woken by his younger sister, Yuuka, in their world. He notes the increasing number of scars on his body, a daily occurrence that prompts Yuuka's concern. Akito dismisses her worries, recalling a recent encounter with a flying penguin-like bird. He promises Yuuka a date on their next holiday, though his insincere response reveals his detachment. Akito then prepares to use an interdimensional transfer magic, which unfortunately only allows him to transfer himself, not his belongings or Yuuka. He arrives in a new world, a vast, clear grassland, and is greeted by two girls, Luise and Marion, and a young sprite named Momo.
This new world, the Holy Elfinheim Kingdom on the continent of Ceruleana, is where Akito has been living for two years. Initially arriving with a mix of admiration and a desire to help, he has since adapted to its harsh realities, surviving alongside his companions. Akito, now physically muscular from his efforts, decides to go hunting with Luise and Marion, who are skilled fighters despite their gender. Their destination is the Valencia Ruins.
During a hunt, they encounter two colossal bulls, each five meters tall. Akito's defensive magic shield is shattered by their charge. Luise, a stout girl with a noble demeanor and impressive strength, engages one bull, using her heavy armor and a massive silver shield to withstand its charge. She then uses a powerful hammer strike imbued with magic to defeat it. Marion, a swift and beautiful girl with half-beastkin blood, uses her agility and dual daggers to outmaneuver and defeat the second bull with a precise, invisible magical blade. Akito, impressed by their prowess, realizes he was not needed in the fight. Momo, a plant-like brownie sprite, then appears and uses her magic to store the bull carcasses in a magical bag.
Later, the group travels north towards the town of Valencia. They encounter a group of knights and soldiers being attacked by a horde of kobolds. The knights, led by Kyle, are overwhelmed by the kobolds' ferocity and numbers, and the soldiers quickly break ranks. Kyle uses a flash crystal to cover their retreat, while Tristan and Natasha, two of the knights, escape. Akito, Luise, and Marion, traveling in a cart, witness this. Kyle, seeing their potential, asks for their help against the kobolds. Despite their merchant status, Luise and Marion, skilled fighters, agree to assist. Akito, though initially hesitant to reveal his power, also agrees to help protect their cart. They easily defeat the kobolds, impressing Kyle with their combat abilities.
The group then proceeds to Valencia, a historic town. They check into an inn and assess their finances, finding them to be low. They plan to use their kobold bounty and sell magical souls (magi-souls) from the defeated monsters to fund their business, "Cafeteria No. 2 (Tentative)." Luise and Marion plan to hunt monsters near the Valencia Ruins to gather materials.
The next day, Akito, Luise, and Marion, accompanied by Momo, head to the Valencia Ruins. They hire a young boy named Fritz as a guide, who is knowledgeable about the area and its monsters. Fritz is eager to learn combat skills, and Akito agrees to teach him, seeing a reflection of his own past struggles. They begin their training, with Momo acting as Fritz's sparring partner.
During their exploration of the ruins, they encounter various monsters, including horn rabbits. Akito and Marion demonstrate their archery skills, while Luise handles defense. Fritz, though initially hesitant, shows promise in his training.
Later, while returning to Valencia, they encounter a large group of kobolds attacking a party of adventurers. Akito, Luise, and Marion intervene, quickly dispatching the kobolds. The adventurers, led by a man named Mash, are grateful for their help. Akito explains their merchant status and their need to gather materials.
The next day, a large-scale monster subjugation effort is underway in Valencia due to a surge in kobold and goblin activity. Akito's group, however, decides to continue their exploration of the ruins, accompanied by Fritz. They encounter a plant-like monster and a brief incident occurs with Marion.
Upon returning to Valencia, they witness the aftermath of a battle, with many injured adventurers and soldiers. Luise, using her divine magic, performs a miraculous healing, saving many lives. This act of healing, however, comes with a significant personal cost, as the pain of those healed is transferred to the user. Akito, concerned for Luise, resolves to protect her.
Kyle, the knight they met earlier, approaches them, impressed by their abilities and Luise's miraculous healing. He questions their true identity, suspecting they are more than just merchants. Akito explains their past as adventurers and their current business, while Luise and Marion demonstrate their combat skills. Kyle, recognizing their strength and Luise's divine power, asks for their assistance in an upcoming battle against a large number of monsters, including hobgoblins. Akito agrees to help, securing a promise of fair compensation.
After parting ways with Kyle, Akito pays Fritz for his services and agrees to train him as an adventurer. He sees a reflection of his own past in Fritz's desire to become stronger and support his family. Akito commits to teaching Fritz until they leave Valencia, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and the dangers of the adventurer's life. The next day, Akito begins Fritz's training, focusing on basic weapon handling and sparring with Momo.
