One night, after completing the skill acquisition ritual, the young man Elius, whose father was killed by the Demon Lord and who vows revenge,
meets a mysterious man named 'Kuro,' who offers a deal:
"Normally, ten years are required to defeat the Demon Lord, but if you make a deal, we can shorten that to five years."
Though suspicious, Elius accepts the deal, seeking to avenge his father as quickly as possible and reduce the casualties caused by the Demon Lord's army.
What he gained from the deal was
a skill called "Guidance" (Shirube),
which allowed him to repeatedly live his life from age fifteen to twenty, discovering the causal links necessary to defeat the Demon Lord.
As he repeatedly lived through these five-year periods, Elius met powerful skill-holders like a Saint and a master Lancer, and felt a sure sense of progress towards defeating the Demon Lord, but...
During one of these repetitions, Elius encounters Elaine, who possesses the "Accounting" skill, generally considered a useless skill for adventurers.
And through "Guidance," he learns that after recruiting her into his party, he is fated to banish her.
Triggered by her banishment, Elaine awakens to the ultimate skill, "Ruler of Numbers," and begins to make her mark.
Meanwhile, Elius is scorned by those around him as a "talentless fool with no foresight" and falls into decline.
However, even with her awakening to the ultimate skill, it wasn't enough to defeat the Demon Lord.
Elius continues to repeat his life, searching for the necessary causal links.
Though Elius suffered, caught between the guilt of banishing her and burdening her with the Demon Lord's defeat, and his sense of mission, he still repeatedly declared,
"We don't need useless skill-holders,"
as he banished her, all while continuing to examine if there was anything else he could do.
Believing that one day, she would defeat the Demon Lord...
