The protagonist, Arimoto Kouhei, a salaryman, dies tragically after being pushed onto train tracks by a drunkard. He awakens in a white, misty space where a god-like being informs him of his death and offers him a chance to reincarnate in a world of swords and magic. As compensation, the protagonist is granted a young, strong body, high magic affinity, and the ability to use all six elemental magic types (fire, water, wind, earth, light, darkness), as well as the derivative space-time magic. He is also given basic clothing, a knife, and some money. The god places him in a seemingly safe forest to acclimate.
Upon arrival, Kouhei finds himself in a forest with impossibly large trees and no signs of animal or insect life, making it eerily quiet but safe. He discovers he has been de-aged to around 11-12 years old and is equipped with a sturdy backpack containing clothes, a knife, some silver coins, and rock salt. His initial goal is to find water, but he soon stumbles upon a path. After walking for three hours, he realizes he's in a circular area and decides to head towards the center.
The center of the forest is a clearing filled with an abundance of edible fruits and vegetables, including apples, oranges, tomatoes, cucumbers, and various grains, all growing in a seemingly managed environment. He also finds mushrooms but is hesitant to eat them. Kouhei then attempts to use his newfound magic, starting with water magic. After an hour of effort, he can only produce a small drop, but he perseveres, eventually managing to create a small water ball by the evening. He sustains himself on the abundant produce.
Over the next few days, Kouhei diligently practices his magic. He improves his water magic to a practical level, able to create a water ball that fits in his mouth. He then focuses on fire magic, eventually being able to sustain a flame for five seconds, enough to start a fire. He then begins practicing "non-attribute" magic, which he discovers allows him to create magical shields. His shield-making skills improve rapidly, and he learns to create a shield that is 50cm x 50cm and lasts for five minutes. He uses his fire and shield magic to create a comfortable campsite with a bonfire.
Kouhei then experiments with his non-attribute magic, discovering it can be used to project magic, allowing him to fire water balls at a tree. He also realizes that his non-attribute magic might be a foundation for other abilities. He dedicates a week to mastering non-attribute magic, successfully creating objects like cups, plates, and even a rudimentary stove and oven, which he uses to cook. He also learns to create glass and iron tools.
He then begins practicing elemental magic more seriously. He discovers that by combining his non-attribute magic with elemental magic, he can achieve more complex effects. He learns to create a bath, cook with his magical creations, and even craft furniture. He also develops the ability to use "Appraisal" magic, which allows him to identify items and their properties, and "Detection" magic, which helps him sense his surroundings.
One day, while exploring the edge of the forest, Kouhei encounters a powerful six-armed bear and a large gorilla. He witnesses a fierce battle between them, where both use elemental magic. He realizes the dangers of this world and decides to focus on strengthening himself. He learns to hunt, successfully defeating a powerful boar using a trap and his magic. He also discovers that his body regenerates injuries quickly, especially after consuming a legendary "Life Fruit."
Over the next year, Kouhei's abilities grow significantly. He masters various forms of magic, including healing, purification, and even alchemy. He learns to create complex tools and structures, improving his living conditions. He also discovers the existence of "Magic Stones" dropped by monsters, which he collects. He becomes proficient in using his magic for both offense and defense, and his exploration abilities expand.
After a year, Kouhei is 13 years old and has become a formidable magic user. He can now travel outside his safe zone, encountering and defeating monsters. He continues to hone his skills, aiming to become strong enough to face the powerful creatures he encountered earlier, and to eventually find a way out of the forest. He also develops a desire for meat, which he finally achieves by hunting a boar. His journey is marked by continuous learning, adaptation, and the development of his unique magical abilities in this new world.
