Chapters 3-12 of the light novel introduce Hanayu Yuma, a high school student whose life is disrupted by the sudden estrangement of his childhood friend Kitabayashi Ayaka and his stepsister Nishina Miu. Both girls, once close to Yuma, abruptly cut ties with him, stating they had found someone else and wished to avoid misunderstandings. This rejection leaves Yuma feeling a sense of female distrust.
The focus then shifts to Himeouji Ryo, a universally admired and seemingly perfect student who is popular with both boys and girls. Ryo is known for his kindness, academic excellence, and charisma, though he has a physical weakness that prevents him from participating in physical education. Yuma, despite initial resentment, comes to admire Ryo's character.
A turning point occurs when Ryo is accused of molestation. He vehemently denies the charges, claiming it's a false accusation, but his family settles the case through a private agreement. This event leads to widespread ostracization and mockery from his peers, including those who once idolized him. Even his former close friends and the student council, which he was a part of, turn against him. Yuma, witnessing this cruel treatment and the indifferent reaction of a teacher, feels a surge of anger and defends Ryo, questioning the judgment of those who condemn him without knowing the truth.
Yuma begins to actively support Ryo, initially by offering him a ride home on his bicycle when Ryo is too unwell to commute by train. This act of kindness evolves into a daily commute arrangement, with Yuma's father providing a tandem bicycle. Yuma's unwavering support, despite the social repercussions, begins to mend Ryo's broken spirit. Ryo, deeply touched by Yuma's trust and kindness, eventually confides in him.
It is revealed that Ryo's family is the powerful Daidouji conglomerate. Ryo, born female, was raised as a boy due to an ancient family tradition that dictates the family's fortune is tied to raising their children as males until adulthood. Any deviation, such as revealing a daughter publicly, is believed to bring ruin to the family. This tradition, coupled with the false accusation, led to Ryo's severe emotional distress and isolation. The molestation accusation was orchestrated by a group of women with misandrist ideologies, who targeted Ryo due to his perceived perfection and his family's influence.
The narrative culminates with the arrest of the criminal group responsible for the false accusation, leading to a public apology from the school community to Ryo. However, Ryo, deeply scarred by the experience, chooses to remain distant and unforgiving towards those who wronged him. He finds solace and trust only in Yuma, who consistently believed in his innocence and supported him. Yuma, in turn, realizes his own past rejections from Ayaka, Miu, and the student council president Toujou Hibiki, have left him with a lingering distrust of women. Despite this, Yuma and Ryo's bond strengthens, with Yuma becoming Ryo's sole confidant and protector. The story ends with Ryo inviting Yuma to his family's estate, hinting at further revelations about his true identity and the family's secrets.
