The Third Knight Order returns from a monster subjugation, enjoying a brief period of relaxation before reporting to the Crown Prince. During this time, knights express their frustration with Ferlina, a "failed saint" who lacks the expected blessing of increased experience gain. Ferlina, aware of her status and the knights' disdain, silently endures their criticism, finding solace only in the fact that no one was seriously injured during the mission. She is a Saint, confirmed by her skill board, but unlike the other Saint, Imeria, Ferlina has never manifested the blessing that accelerates leveling. This deficiency leads to her being called a "failed saint," and her presence on missions is met with disappointment.
Suddenly, the Knight Commander summons Ferlina, informing her that the Crown Prince wishes to see her. Despite her disheveled state after the subjugation, she is told to come as she is. She is led to Crown Prince Kleves's office, where she finds her estranged father and the other Saint, Imeria, present. Kleves cruelly remarks on her shabby appearance and announces that a marriage has been arranged for her. Her father, eager to benefit from the advantageous match, readily agrees, revealing that the marriage is to take place that very day. Ferlina is shocked and distressed by the suddenness and the lack of her own consent. Imeria mockingly congratulates her, further fueling Ferlina's unease.
Crown Prince Kleves then reveals that her groom is Alvent, the Second Prince of the neighboring Gobures Kingdom, known as the "Cursed Grey Bear of Gobures." This news is devastating, as Alvent is a fearsome warrior, and Ferlina realizes she is being treated as a commodity, sold to secure favorable trade terms for the Klein Kingdom. Alvent arrives, a formidable figure whose imposing presence and a prominent scar on his cheek reinforce his fearsome reputation. Kleves presents Ferlina to Alvent, emphasizing her value as a Saint, even without her blessing, and that her father has consented to the immediate transfer. Alvent, seemingly surprised that Ferlina was unaware of the marriage, proceeds with the signing of the marriage contract. Despite her fear and the contract's implications of severing ties with her homeland, Ferlina signs. Alvent, however, shows a surprising gentleness, allowing her to read the document and offering a moment of consideration.
Following the signing, Alvent apologizes to Ferlina for the hasty arrangements, explaining that he was pressured by Kleves and was unaware she had just returned from a subjugation. Ferlina, in turn, apologizes for her appearance. Alvent is shocked to learn Ferlina was not informed of the marriage, becoming visibly distressed and questioning Kleves's deception. He expresses his anger at being misled, especially since the marriage contract has already been signed. Ferlina, touched by Alvent's concern for her lack of knowledge and his anger at being deceived, tries to comfort him, stating that it was not his fault. Alvent, in turn, is relieved to hear that Ferlina can handle Holy magic, as Gobures Kingdom desperately needs a Saint for their frequent monster subjugations. He reassures her that her lack of blessing is not an issue and that her presence alone is greatly appreciated.
The journey to Gobures Kingdom begins immediately. Ferlina is surprised by the luxurious carriage and Alvent's insistence on her accompanying him. Alvent expresses concern about her well-being and arranges for two female knights, Nanette and Chelsea, to assist her. They dress Ferlina in a beautiful green dress, much to her embarrassment and Alvent's visible fluster. During the journey, Alvent shows genuine concern for Ferlina, offering her comfort and adjusting her hair accessory. He also reveals his desire to be called by his name, Alvent, and not "Your Highness," further easing Ferlina's apprehension.
Upon arriving at an inn for the night, Ferlina is overwhelmed by the luxurious accommodations. Nanette and Chelsea, despite Ferlina's protests, insist on assisting her with bathing and preparing for the night, hinting at the significance of their wedding night. Ferlina, flustered by the implication, accidentally inhales water in the bathtub. Alvent, concerned by her prolonged absence and the commotion, enters her room to check on her. He finds her in her nightgown and scolds her for being unprepared, but quickly softens, expressing worry about her health and apologizing for the strenuous journey. Ferlina, in turn, tries to reassure him, but her nervousness and the lingering thoughts of their wedding night cause her to blurt out a question about whether his visit is for their wedding night. Alvent freezes at her question, leaving the situation unresolved as the chapter ends.
