The protagonist awakens from a dream where he is forced to choose between four beautiful girls, only to realize he has been reincarnated into the world of the eroge "Love Fantasista!" as Asagiri Hak, a handsome, androgynous boy. In his past life, he was an ordinary office worker obsessed with eroge. Now, he finds himself in the body of a character who is a hidden route option for the protagonist, Ichinose Kazuki, leading to a potential BL ending, which Hak desperately wants to avoid. His goal is to live a peaceful high school life, avoiding the main heroines who are described as dangerous despite their beauty, and aiming for a neutral ending.
Hak's first day at school, Private Himawari High, is uneventful until he witnesses the protagonist, Kazuki, interacting intimately with his childhood friend and first main heroine, Shimauchi Erika. Kazuki, oblivious and dense, is shown to be very affectionate towards Erika, who harbors romantic feelings for him. To Hak's surprise, Kazuki initiates a conversation with him, despite Hak being a supposed background character. Erika also recognizes Hak, describing him as cool, intelligent, and athletic, information Hak himself was unaware of. The day concludes with the start of the school year and Hak anticipating the story's beginning: Kazuki and Erika going to karaoke.
Unexpectedly, Hak finds himself dragged along to the karaoke session by Kazuki. While Erika initially seems annoyed by Hak's presence, she is impressed by Kazuki's singing, though he disappoints her with his dense response to her affections. When Kazuki leaves for the restroom, Erika, seeking an "appetizer" after Kazuki's poor performance, asks Hak to sing. To his own astonishment, Hak discovers he possesses an incredibly beautiful singing voice, far surpassing his previous life's terrible singing. This impresses Erika immensely, causing her to move closer to him and even playfully suggest showing him intimate parts of herself, which Hak, despite his attraction, rejects to avoid disaster. He realizes he has unintentionally captivated Erika, a "choro-in" (easily swayed heroine), and fears he may have ruined her route for Kazuki.
The next day, Hak is made class representative, a role he finds unusual. He attends a meeting where he encounters the second main heroine, Hojo Karen, the arrogant and wealthy daughter of the school's principal. Karen, a perfectionist, announces a test for all class representatives, which Hak strategically aims to fail to avoid further involvement. To his surprise, he is the only one to pass, leaving him alone with Karen. He attempts to ignore her, knowing her hidden "domo-M" (extreme masochist) tendencies and the dangerous SM route she has in the game. However, his deliberate ignorance only seems to intrigue her. Realizing his avoidance tactics are failing, Hak shifts to acting pathetic and uninteresting, which disappoints Karen. When she reveals she was interested in him because he was the only one who could match her academically and dared to ignore her, Hak, feeling a pang of guilt and seeing her genuine desire for friendship, decides to offer his friendship. Karen, overjoyed, accepts, marking a significant deviation from the game's plot.
A week later, Hak finds himself caught between Erika's increasingly possessive and yandere-like behavior and his newfound friendship with Karen. Erika's requests for his used underwear and her mention of a knife are alarming, though Kazuki remains oblivious. Hak is also avoiding Karen, but she confronts him, demanding an explanation for his past behavior. He continues to play the pathetic role, which disappoints her, but she reveals she was drawn to his academic ability and his bold act of ignoring her, seeing him as someone who could understand her. Hak, realizing she genuinely desires friendship and not a romantic or SM partner, accepts her offer, though he remains wary of her potential to become a yandere.
Later, Hak deliberately delays Kazuki's departure after school to ensure he encounters Karen at the designated spot for their first meeting. He wants to witness Kazuki accidentally hitting Karen with a textbook, triggering her masochistic tendencies and initiating her route. He successfully keeps Kazuki occupied with conversation, while Erika, who has declared her intention to spend time with Hak, clings to him possessively, much to Kazuki's amusement and Hak's internal panic. Just as Hak believes his plan is on track, Karen appears, searching for him, and finds him being embraced by Erika.
