Hamagishi Shougo, a 29-year-old Japanese office worker, awakens to find himself in the body of Jouwain Date, a despised, middle-aged Lieutenant Colonel in the 'New Balance' military, a radical faction from the OVA anime 'Trismegistus New Order'. Shougo is horrified to discover Jouwain's fate: an incompetent, sycophantic officer destined to die midway through the series, betrayed by his own subordinates. The immediate threat is that in just twelve hours, Jouwain is scheduled to lead a mission to massacre civilians on the colonial planet Byblos, a pivotal event in the anime's first episode.
Shougo's primary goal is survival. He quickly learns that his superior, Colonel Anfer Publius, a politically cunning but militarily inept leader, intends to use Jouwain as a scapegoat for the massacre. Shougo realizes he cannot simply refuse orders without facing severe punishment or being discarded by Anfer. His best chance, he deduces, is to align with the anime's protagonists.
A turning point occurs when Lieutenant Mark Casey, an ace pilot known as 'Wild Boar' and the very subordinate destined to betray Jouwain, confronts Shougo about a 'Planet Killer' weapon on board. In a desperate gamble, Shougo, instead of lying, truthfully reveals the weapon's existence and Anfer's true intentions. This unexpected honesty intrigues Mark, who, despite his aggressive nature, dislikes pointless massacres and finds Jouwain's sudden change of character "interesting."
Shougo then contacts Anfer, who confirms his ruthless plan: use the Planet Killer on Byblos, then sink Jouwain's ship and scapegoat the entire crew, saving only Jouwain to be his personal slave. Anfer also reveals the protagonist's robot, Trismegistus, is a powerful gravity-manipulating weapon capable of neutralizing Planet Killers. Realizing he is completely expendable, Shougo decides to stage a coup. He gathers his crew, exposes Anfer's treachery, and declares his intention to defect and expose New Balance. Most of the crew, including Mark, reluctantly agree, seeing it as their only path to survival and honor.
As the battleship *Mirandra* approaches Byblos, Shougo attempts to make contact with Adaman, the planet's autonomy representative and the heroine's grandfather, offering Anfer's mission data as proof of his sincerity and intent to surrender. However, before a full alliance can be forged, a second New Balance battleship, sent by Anfer to eliminate Jouwain, appears. Shougo, despite his terror, takes command. He orders his Teurgia squad, led by Mark, to engage the enemy's robots while he fires a Planet Killer at the enemy battleship. The weapon obliterates the opposing ship, marking Shougo's first victory and a drastic alteration of the anime's original plot. He survives, but the consequences of his actions, particularly for the anime's protagonist, remain uncertain.
