The story begins with university junior Yuuki Sawashiro, the diligent vice-captain of an outdoor club, being abruptly expelled by the club's president and his long-time friend, Shusuke Kuzumi, with the support of fellow member Takaki Narumi. Yuuki, a kind and somewhat naive individual from the countryside who loves nature and actively managed club activities, is shocked and hurt by Kuzumi's accusations of being useless and not understanding the club's "vibe." Yuuki defends his actions, explaining that his focus on safe, day-trip activities and affordable venues was to accommodate the club's growing female membership (attracted by a solo-camping trend) and student budgets, and that his early party endings were for safety, especially for the girls. Kuzumi and Narumi, however, claim Yuuki's actions were selfish, caused widespread resentment among members, and led to complaints, leaving Yuuki feeling betrayed and disliked, leading him to resign.
After his expulsion, Yuuki initially feels a deep sense of shock and sadness, believing he was hated by everyone. However, he quickly shifts his mindset, viewing his newfound freedom as an opportunity to pursue his personal hobbies like cooking, serious hiking, and exploring new interests. He diligently handles the handover of his club responsibilities, including informing other university clubs he previously collaborated with.
The narrative then shifts to Kuzumi's perspective, revealing the true, malicious motivations behind Yuuki's expulsion. Kuzumi, a charismatic but predatory individual, confesses his primary goal for the club is "off-pako" (casual sex) with female members, particularly the beautiful Ruka Shijo (a former model and miss contest winner). He and Narumi resented Yuuki's "wholesome" and safety-conscious planning, which consistently thwarted their attempts to get girls drunk and take them to hotels. Narumi even admits to trying to trick Ruka's 19-year-old sister, Akane, into drinking alcohol, only for Yuuki to intervene and send her home safely. They celebrated Yuuki's departure, believing it cleared the path for their predatory plans. Kuzumi even posted a misogynistic, gloating message on a locked social media account.
A few days later, Ruka Shijo visits Yuuki's apartment, expressing deep concern. She reveals that Kuzumi had spread a false accusation that Yuuki was "expelled" for "assaulting a girl from another club." Yuuki vehemently denies this, and Ruka, seemingly relieved, dismisses a strange comment about Yuuki not desiring any woman other than her. Soon after, Akane Shijo also approaches Yuuki on campus, expressing how much she missed him and also dismissing the false accusation. Both sisters exhibit subtle, possessive behaviors and make odd comments that Yuuki, in his naivety, consistently misinterprets as mere friendliness or misunderstandings. He remains oblivious to their deeper interest.
Meanwhile, Kuzumi's attempts to organize a joint party with another female university club are met with frustration. The other club's president, annoyed by Kuzumi's vague planning and lack of concern for details like safety and logistics, cancels all future collaborations. Undeterred, Kuzumi and Narumi immediately pivot their focus back to the Shijo sisters, whom they believe are "easy targets" due to their low alcohol tolerance and perceived "flirty" nature. They plot to get Ruka and Akane drunk at the next club party and exploit them.
The chapter arc concludes with Yuuki remaining blissfully unaware of the true malice of his former friends and the intense, potentially manipulative affections of the Shijo sisters, setting the stage for future conflicts driven by his obliviousness and the hidden agendas of those around him.
