The story begins with the protagonist, a typical high school student, suddenly discovering he can use telekinesis. This manifests when he accidentally moves a piece of senbei (rice cracker) with his mind. Initially disbelieving, he tests his newfound ability, confirming it by repeatedly levitating and catching senbei fragments. He grapples with the reality of his powers, contrasting his mundane awakening with the dramatic scenarios often depicted in light novels. He spends days meticulously researching telekinesis online and through experimentation, discovering his initial limit is around 3 grams, and that using his power causes a unique form of fatigue. He also notes that his telekinetic range is limited by his line of sight and that precise manipulation is difficult, restricted to pulling or pushing objects along a straight line towards himself.
Over the next few months, his telekinetic output steadily increases, reaching 8kg. He dedicates himself to training, focusing on expanding his control to all directions and improving his precision. He learns to create telekinetic barriers and even shape them into simple objects like plates and cups. By his second year of university, his telekinetic output has grown exponentially, allowing him to manipulate massive objects, and he has developed the ability to sense the weight of objects and create a sensory field around himself. He also discovers a way to extend his telekinetic range beyond his line of sight by using a telescope, eventually achieving a range of 45km.
During his university years, he dedicates himself to honing his powers, aiming to achieve the ability to "see" with telekinesis. He also begins to feel a sense of stagnation, realizing that simply training his powers without a clear goal or external conflict is leading to a mundane existence. He decides to create his own "non-ordinary" world by forming a secret society. He recruits a wealthy and intelligent young woman named Kanagi Shiori, who harbors a desire for a more fantastical life and possesses a unique time-stopping ability. Together, they establish a secret society named "Tensho" with the goal of fighting "the darkness of the world," which they create as artificial slime-like entities.
The narrative then shifts to the recruitment of their first member, Hasumi Touka, a middle school girl who, despite her outwardly calm demeanor and dedication to Buddhist practices, harbors a deep-seated desire for excitement and a way to help others. Touka is recruited after a staged encounter with one of their "darkness" entities, orchestrated by the protagonist and Shiori. Touka, initially hesitant, ultimately accepts the offer to join the secret society, driven by a desire to help and a realization that her Buddhist path might be a way to combat the "desires of the world." The story concludes with the formation of the secret society, with the protagonist as the enigmatic leader and Shiori as his capable second-in-command, ready to embark on their manufactured adventures.
