The protagonist, Kiska, a young man with silver hair, is unjustly accused of the rape and murder of a villager named Namia and sentenced to banishment into the depths of the S-rank dungeon, Katalof Dungeon. Kiska vehemently proclaims his innocence, claiming he was framed by the villagers. He is thrown into a cell, knowing that no one who has been sent to the dungeon's depths has ever returned alive.
Kiska grew up in Katalof Village, a place known for its S-rank dungeon, which attracts many adventurers. He has been ostracized since childhood due to his silver hair, a trait associated with the "Arx," an ancient people believed to have betrayed humanity and sided with demons. Despite his mother having brown hair, Kiska's silver hair is attributed to his absent father. His mother, who raised him alone and passed away from illness due to their poverty, was his only solace.
Kiska's childhood was marked by bullying, particularly from Darga, the village chief's son, and his cronies. They would vandalize his farm and physically assault him. His only friend and confidante was Namia, a merchant's daughter and his childhood friend. Namia treated his injuries and expressed her dislike for the villagers' treatment of him, even complimenting his silver hair.
Namia reveals to Kiska that she is to be married to Darga. Distraught and fearing for Kiska's well-being in the village, she proposes they elope, offering her family's money to start a new life elsewhere. Kiska, who has always harbored feelings for Namia, agrees. They plan to escape that night.
However, when Kiska goes to Namia's house to meet her, he hears her screams. He rushes in to find Darga and his men attempting to assault Namia. Kiska intervenes, but is quickly overpowered and brutally beaten. Darga, suspicious of Kiska's presence, tortures him by ripping off his fingernails to extract a confession. Namia, unable to bear Kiska's suffering, confesses their plan to elope. Enraged, Darga then assaults and kills Namia, framing Kiska for her rape and murder.
Kiska awakens in prison, facing the death sentence. He is then forced into the teleportation array leading to the dungeon's depths, a place considered a death sentence. Upon arrival, he is immediately confronted by a powerful A-rank monster, the "Armored Great Bear." Facing certain death, Kiska cries out for help, and a shadowy figure appears, granting him the skill "Save & Reset."
Kiska dies repeatedly at the hands of the Armored Great Bear, but each death triggers the "Save & Reset" skill, returning him to a point before his demise. He realizes he is stuck in a time loop, reliving his death. After numerous failed attempts to escape or survive, he discovers a hidden passage behind a trap in the dungeon. This passage leads to a room with a treasure chest containing a "Crystal of Wisdom," which allows him to choose a new skill.
After much deliberation, Kiska chooses the S-rank skill "Stealth." However, upon acquiring it, the room seals, and he is attacked by ten Armored Great Bears. He is quickly overwhelmed and killed. The loop resets, and he finds himself back before the treasure chest. He then chooses the S-rank skill "Acceleration," which allows him to dodge attacks with incredible speed. Despite this, he struggles to defeat the ten bears due to his low attack power and the skill's high stamina consumption. He realizes that "Acceleration" alone is insufficient.
He then experiments with other skills, choosing "Physical Technique" (B-rank) and "Physical Enhancement" (C-rank), both of which improve his physical abilities. He discovers that "Physical Enhancement" offers a more balanced improvement than "Physical Technique," but still struggles to defeat the ten Armored Great Bears. He then considers a D-rank skill, "Strength Enhancement," believing it might offer a greater boost to his attack power. The chapters conclude with Kiska contemplating his next skill choice, driven by a burning desire for revenge against Darga and the villagers who wronged him.
