The story begins with Carla Glyce, the beautiful and alluring proprietress of the "Dragon Emperor's Yadorigi" inn in the capital city of Oakran Kingdom, Crankran. Carla harbors a secret: she is a former male from another world, Takahashi Ryuta.
Ryuta's transmigration was initiated by a mishap from the Supreme God, "Ushin." Ryuta died of old age at 28, but Ushin had accidentally placed another soul into his destined reincarnation cycle. To rectify this, Ushin offered Ryuta three choices: wait for a reincarnation slot, become a wandering spirit, or go to another world. Ryuta, a hidden otaku who enjoyed reading web novels, chose the third option, especially when offered cheat abilities.
His primary wish was to become a woman, a desire stemming from his virtual reality experiences and long-held fantasy. Ushin, after some initial shock, granted this wish, transforming Ryuta into Carla Glyce. The process involved a painful physical and mental reconstruction, with Ryuta being de-aged to 20 and gaining immense, almost absurdly overpowered stats, particularly in defense, and several cheat skills like absolute defense, an all-knowing information network, and a charm ability that causes others to fall in love with her. Ushin also implanted knowledge of the world and its language.
Carla awakens in the "Martai Grasslands," a peaceful world of swords and magic, populated by demi-humans and dragons. Ushin, communicating telepathically, explains the world's setting: the continent of Cran, divided into the Oakran Kingdom, the Elkran Empire, and the Milkran Kingdom, with mountains inhabited by dragons and a region known as the "Demon's Garden." The world is generally peaceful, with nations cooperating against monster invasions. The dominant religion is the Cran religion, worshipping the sole god "Cran," who is revealed to be a reconnaissance angel sent by Ushin.
Carla's immediate goal is to reach the capital, Crankran, and establish herself. She encounters a group of bandits, former adventurers who now work for nobles seeking women. Despite Ushin's assurances of peace, Carla is immediately attacked. Her overwhelming cheat abilities, particularly her speed and destructive power, allow her to effortlessly defeat them, though she experiences a pang of guilt for the first kill.
Upon reaching Crankran, Carla is stopped at the west gate by a knight named Dick. He explains the need for a permit to enter the city and offers to issue a temporary one. During their interaction, Dick, a self-proclaimed "earnest flirtatious knight," is clearly smitten by Carla's beauty and offers her advice on establishing a lodging business, suggesting she aim for B-rank adventurer status to gain access to the Adventurer's Guild. He also provides her with a "Citizen Card" and warns her about the strict penalties for losing it.
Carla heads to the Adventurer's Guild, a surprisingly modern and organized establishment. She encounters a seemingly lazy receptionist named Ririka, a former A-rank adventurer who quickly sees through Carla's facade. Ririka reveals that to become an adventurer, Carla must first attend a training school for at least a year, with the guild covering the costs. Carla accepts this, and her journey as an adventurer, and a student, begins. The narrative concludes with Carla heading to the "Garden of Joy Inn" as recommended by Dick, and the implication that her life as Carla Glyce is just starting, with future challenges and interactions hinted at.
