**Chapter 3-12 Summary**
The story begins with Haruno Sora, a diligent fourth-year science student, walking home on a cool evening. His life is consumed by research, with no respite in sight. Suddenly, he experiences a spatial distortion, a statistically improbable phenomenon that engulfs him. He vanishes, leaving the world to label his disappearance as "Kami-kakushi" (being spirited away by gods), though no divine entity perceived it.
Sora awakens in a dense forest, disoriented and with no memory of how he arrived. His phone is dead, and his bag is gone. He notices a series of old red cloths tied to trees, marking a path that inexplicably starts from where he woke up. The forest is unnaturally cold for the season, adding to his unease. As he contemplates his situation, he hears footsteps and encounters an elderly man with a white beard and Western features. The man, who introduces himself as Enima Turg, greets Sora and reveals that he is in another world.
Enima, an Elf who claims to be 316 years old, explains that he foresaw Sora's arrival 221 years prior through prophecy magic. He offers Sora shelter in his large log house, where Sora learns that returning to his original world is impossible. Despite his initial despair, Sora's scientific curiosity is piqued by the existence of magic and this new world. He dedicates himself to learning the local language and history, consuming Enima's extensive collection of handwritten books. He discovers the world is populated by various races, faces threats from "monsters," and has a rudimentary understanding of magic, primarily categorized into four basic elements: fire, water, wind, and earth.
Driven by a need for self-defense, Sora begins studying magic. He quickly masters basic and intermediate spells, astonishing Enima with his rapid progress and immense magical power, far exceeding what is typically seen. Sora theorizes that his understanding of modern science, particularly atomic theory, allows him to grasp the fundamental principles of magic more effectively than the world's current understanding, which he likens to ancient Greek elemental theories. He demonstrates this by creating carbon and even a diamond, concepts unknown to Enima. Enima, realizing Sora's unique potential, decides to teach him his most prized possession: prophecy magic.
Enima reveals that his prophecy magic is a rare and taxing art, and he has been waiting for Sora to fulfill the second-most distant prophecy. He entrusts Sora with a scroll containing the prophecy magic, explaining that his own life is ending, as foretold by the furthest prophecy. Enima passes away peacefully, leaving Sora his home and the prophecy magic.
Sora, now alone, decides to travel to the capital city of Dexter, the economic hub of the Scross Kingdom, aiming to enroll in the Onimadikka Magic Academy. He arrives with nothing but the prophecy scroll, notes, and a map. He is initially denied entry to the academy due to his lack of funds and official recommendation. To earn money, he visits the Hunter's Guild, where his immense magical power, revealed during a mandatory assessment, leads him to be registered as an A-rank hunter.
His first mission as a hunter is a bodyguard job for a merchant, which quickly turns into an ambush by knights. Sora effortlessly incapacitates the knights with his "stun gun" magic, a technique he developed based on his scientific knowledge. He is then apprehended by the knights and brought before their leader, Algin Royce Onimadikka, the Duchess and head of the powerful Onimadikka family, who also happens to be the headmistress of the magic academy. Algin, impressed by Sora's abilities and recognizing his potential, forgives his unwitting involvement in the merchant's illegal arms dealing and offers him a scholarship to the academy.
Sora accepts, and his first task is to hunt Dire Wolves for the guild to earn money for his living expenses. He quickly masters hunting, developing a powerful offensive magic using rocks as projectiles. During one hunt, he encounters a fierce female hunter named Sisty Limphtofart, whom he rescues from a Dire Wolf attack. Sisty, initially hostile and embarrassed by Sora's help and his calling her by her first name, develops a complex mix of gratitude and romantic feelings towards him. Sora, meanwhile, continues to hone his magical skills and prepares for his enrollment at the academy, unaware of the true implications of the prophecy magic he now possesses.
