Jirei, the protagonist, believed that if he became a hero, defeated the Demon Lord, and then became king, he could spend every day lazing around.

To be chosen as the hero, he underwent grueling training, sometimes even engaging in deathmatches with higher-ranked monsters. All for his future life of blissful idleness, Jirei pushed himself to the limit, even spitting up blood from the effort.

Then, one day, while living this life, he learned through rumors about the harsh reality of being a hero—that it was essentially an exploitative 'black' job. To make matters worse, he also discovered that even as king, he wouldn't be able to enjoy his idleness due to endless paperwork and other responsibilities.

Upon hearing this, Jirei immediately abandoned his grueling training. He built a small hut on the outskirts of town, determined to live a life of pure idleness.

Believing that he only needed just enough money to get by, he occasionally worked as a D-rank adventurer, despite possessing SSS-rank power, and otherwise lived an indolent life in his hut.

One day, as he mused, "I wish this life could last forever," a young hero, for some reason, appeared and invited him to join her party. To make matters stranger, the kingdom's princess, also for some reason, proposed marriage to him.

Jirei, naturally, refused, but both the hero and the princess proved remarkably persistent...!?

"I just want to live in idleness! Leave me be!"

This is the story of an overwhelmingly powerful protagonist who simply yearns for a life of idleness. Yet, through various circumstances, he somehow defeats the Four Heavenly Kings and draws the attention of the Demon Lord. Or, when he attempts to flee to another country, he finds himself once again proposed to by that kingdom's princess and on the verge of being made king.
