Description
The Central Imperial Nation of the Continent.
Our family is poor, so I've been told to marry at sixteen. The day after tomorrow, I'll turn sixteen. This means I'll soon become someone's bride.
Who would it be? I thought it would be a man of suitable age from the tenements, but then a shocking marriage proposal arrived.
A marriage proposal from the heir of the Kyoke family, a respected family of high-ranking civil servants and gentry.
For the second daughter of a bamboo craftsperson, a poor tenement girl, it was a once-in-a-lifetime stroke of luck. On the day of the proposal, my parents bowed their heads, humbly accepting.
As it was a fortunate marriage across social strata, the usual omiai procedures were skipped.
My parents had apparently been worried that no one would marry such an absent-minded, unmotivated, and clumsy daughter, so they were relieved that I would safely be able to marry.
Along with the marriage proposal, I received a beautiful hair ornament, a full set of kimonos for the engagement, and after the designated bridal training, a complete set of bridal furnishings.
Everything was provided by the groom's side, even though normally, except for the hair ornament, these items are prepared by the bride's family.
It was a very peculiar marriage arrangement, as there was a significant status difference, and our family stood to gain everything.
And so, I, Riru, a commoner without a surname, became the bride of the Kyoke Rubel family.
[R-15 is a precaution. There are no major climaxes or twists, nor does any rival appear. I wrote this as a heartwarming, casual romance story to pass the time.]
[After the main story concluded, I received feedback, wrote a travel arc, and then finished. Since I'm happy to receive feedback, I continue to post extra chapters.]
