The narrative picks up with the protagonist, who has memories of a past life, attending the graduation party at the prestigious Royal Academy of Saint-Legrand. The academy, attended by the children of nobles, is as grand as a castle. The graduation ceremony is underway, with students parading in pairs. The highlight is the appearance of Prince Serge, the King's younger brother, whose golden hair and handsome features draw cheers from the female students. However, a ripple of surprise spreads through the attendees as Serge escorts Flora Elmea, a baron's daughter and an orphan raised by the church, instead of the expected Margery du Noel, the Prime Minister's daughter and a prominent noble.
During his graduation speech, Serge unexpectedly announces his engagement to Flora, much to the bewilderment of most students. He then calls forth Margery, the silver-haired, blue-eyed daughter of the Prime Minister, who was widely believed to be his intended. The students anticipate a dramatic confrontation, speculating that Margery, who may have resented Flora's closeness with Serge, is about to be publicly exposed for past mistreatment of Flora. However, in a surprising turn of events, Serge and Flora kneel before Margery, expressing their deep gratitude for her friendship and support, which enabled their relationship. Margery, outwardly appearing touched, inwardly celebrates the success of her meticulously planned three-year effort to avoid her destined "villainess" downfall.
The story then shifts to Margery's perspective, revealing her past life as a reincarnated individual who remembers reading the novel "Cinderella Suddenly." Upon realizing she is Margery du Noel, the villainess destined for ruin, she resolves to alter her fate. She immediately befriends Flora, offering her assistance and protection, and actively works to foster Serge and Flora's relationship, becoming their confidante and "love cupid." Her efforts culminate in Serge and Flora's engagement, a success she attributes to her strategic maneuvering.
Following the graduation, Serge and Flora express their heartfelt gratitude to Margery, solidifying their friendship. However, Margery's carefully constructed plan takes an unexpected and disastrous turn. After celebrating with champagne, she wakes up in the King's chambers, having apparently spent the night with Julius Louis Legrand, the "Wolf King of Legrand" and Serge's half-brother. Julius, a character from the novel's second part, is revealed to be Margery's second potential downfall. He claims she was found drunk and clinging to him, and despite her protests, he insists on taking responsibility and marrying her.
Margery desperately tries to avoid this fate, appealing to Julius to forget the night. However, Julius reveals he knows about her actions at the academy, including her efforts to protect Flora and facilitate her relationship with Serge. He interprets her actions as a sign of her devotion and uses this to justify his pursuit of her. He then summons Margery to the castle under the guise of needing her support for Flora's integration into the royal family, but his true intention is to keep her close.
Despite her efforts to refuse, Julius manipulates the situation, playing on her conscience and the potential fallout of her father's reaction. He eventually convinces her to accept a role as Flora's guardian and advisor at the castle, effectively trapping her within his grasp. Margery's father, Prime Minister Jordan du Noel, is fiercely protective of his daughter and suspects something happened between her and the King. He warns Julius against harming her, but Julius remains confident he can win her over.
Margery, now living in the castle, continues to try and avoid a romantic entanglement with Julius, believing it will lead to her demise. She attempts to use her father's preference for blonde partners as a shield, but Julius, aware of her father's intentions and her own actions at the academy, seems determined to pursue her regardless. The narrative concludes with Margery accepting her new role, albeit reluctantly, as she navigates the complex web of royal politics and her own precarious situation, all while Julius, the "Wolf King," seems to be enjoying the chase.
