In Chapter 3, the pharmacist Medi is accused of attempting to poison a patient at the healing clinic where she works. The clinic's director, Romel, along with other medical staff, confronts Medi, presenting a vial of liquid that melts the floor. Nurse Cruel claims to have accidentally spilled it, while the head healer, Ilaza, accuses Medi of deliberately poisoning the medicine, citing Medi's alleged dissatisfaction with her pay and treatment compared to healers. Medi vehemently denies the accusations, asserting the poison was externally introduced and that she would never harm a patient. Despite her pleas and a year of dedicated service, Medi is dismissed by Romel, who cites her past contributions but ultimately succumbs to Ilaza's pressure. Romel offers Medi severance pay, which she accepts with a heavy heart, vowing to continue helping people.
Chapter 4 sees Medi reflecting on her past. Her father, also a pharmacist, instilled in her the joy of helping others. Despite the declining status of pharmacists in a magic-dominated era, Medi pursued the profession, aiming to surpass her father. The dismissal from the clinic, where she had been valued for her exceptional skills, deeply impacts her, highlighting her perceived immaturity in dealing with the machinations of Ilaza and Cruel. Medi resolves to find a place where her skills as a pharmacist are truly needed.
Chapters 5-9 detail Medi's journey to a remote, cold region at the continent's southern tip. She chooses this isolated location, believing it will be a place where a pharmacist is essential. Upon arrival, she finds a sparsely populated village and, after confirming the absence of any healing facilities, seeks permission from the village chief to open a pharmacy. The chief, who is gravely ill, welcomes her enthusiastically. Medi diagnoses his condition and, using her portable alchemy cauldron and common ingredients like magic water, Les's leaves, and green herbs, expertly crafts a potent Rank A potion. The chief is astonished by her skill and the potion's effectiveness, which quickly alleviates his symptoms. He immediately offers her a vacant building to establish her shop.
Chapters 10-12 introduce Irene, a highly skilled adventurer and the "Extreme Sword." Medi's new pharmacy quickly gains popularity, attracting customers like Irene, who is initially skeptical of Medi's abilities. Medi's superior potions, particularly a physical potion, impress Irene. Three rough adventurers, who had previously harassed Irene, enter the shop, but Medi's sharp diagnosis of their poor health and her superior potions deter them. Irene, a Rank 1 adventurer, reveals she is in the village because she has lost her edge, struggling even with low-ranked monsters. Medi, observing Irene's physical perfection, realizes her "sword-only" mindset and self-imposed pressure are hindering her. Medi's calming herbal teas, made with ingredients like blue herbs, help Irene relax and regain her clarity.
Medi then proposes a new approach to sourcing ingredients: establishing a herb garden. She enlists Irene's help in cultivating the land, and with Medi's expertly crafted fertilizers (made from cow dung and other ingredients), the soil transforms. The three adventurers Medi previously helped, now loyal to her, bring her a large supply of rare herbs, eager to support her. Irene, witnessing Medi's dedication and the effectiveness of her potions, begins to understand the value of pharmacists.
The narrative then shifts to the healing clinic, where Romel is overwhelmed by patient complaints due to staff shortages and the ineffectiveness of the new pharmacists hired to replace Medi. The new pharmacists, like Booyan, are incompetent and dismissive of patient concerns, leading to further dissatisfaction. Ilaza, the head healer, also displays arrogance and a lack of empathy towards patients, further exacerbating the situation. Romel realizes the critical role Medi played and regrets her dismissal.
Meanwhile, Medi and Irene are called to assist two injured adventurers, Pont and Utan, who were attacked by monsters. Medi quickly prepares potent healing potions, astonishing Irene with their efficacy. They then encounter a Baron Wolf, a formidable Rank 1 monster. Irene, revealed to be the legendary "Extreme Sword" Irene, effortlessly defeats it. The adventurers, humbled by their encounter and Irene's prowess, vow to support Medi. Irene, observing Medi's unique skills and the unusual behavior of the monsters around her, begins to suspect Medi's potions have a profound effect beyond simple healing. The chapters conclude with Medi's pharmacy thriving, contributing to the village's prosperity, and Irene finding renewed purpose in supporting Medi.
