The protagonist, a former office worker who enjoyed games, has been reincarnated into the world of "Indra Fantasy" as Elias Allkalson, a villainous noble known for his terrible appearance, personality, and lack of skill. In the game, Elias was a mid-boss who died at the hands of his subordinates. The protagonist, now Elias, is determined to avoid this fate and achieve a happy ending, including finding romance.
His immediate goals are to investigate his current situation and the city of Glendal, and to begin a rigorous diet and training regimen to improve his physique and gain strength. He escapes his mansion via a rope and begins exploring Glendal, using his game knowledge to find hidden items in locations like the tavern basement and weapon shop rooftop. He ventures into the Glendal sewers, a post-game area in the game, and manages to climb over a locked door to retrieve items. Despite the difficulty of moving in his obese body, he retrieves an "Angel Charm," an item that doubles experience gain, from the deepest part of the sewers, near a sealed forbidden beast.
Upon returning to his room, Elias inventories his collected items. He then decides to seek training from three of the Allkalson household's uniquely skilled retainers: Cornelia Heinbel, a former cardinal and skilled healer; Deizen Hourback, a former top-ranked mage; and Tiffany Martindale, a former captain of the Royal Knights who was exiled for killing seven knights. Elias, aware that Tiffany was the one who ultimately killed him in the game, approaches her first, despite his fear.
Tiffany, initially dismissive and suspecting Elias of seeking sexual favors, eventually agrees to train him under strict conditions: absolute obedience, no talking back, and self-responsibility for any injuries. Elias accepts, and his training begins the next morning with a brutal running regimen. He is forced to run laps around the courtyard, with Tiffany chasing him, and if caught, he must perform 100 squats or sit-ups. This intense training, though hellish, begins to reduce Elias's weight.
Meanwhile, Elias also begins training with Deizen in magic and Cornelia in healing magic. Deizen is impressed by Elias's rapid learning of magic, noting his ability to grasp mana manipulation and even cast spells with shortened incantations. Elias discovers he can cast spells without the full incantation, a talent that excites Deizen. Cornelia, initially embarrassed and misunderstanding Elias's intentions, is also impressed by his ability to cast healing magic with minimal incantation after a brief period of training.
Two weeks into his training, Elias has made significant progress in magic. He learns advanced techniques and even invents a new spell, "Weather Storm," a multi-layered composite spell. His talent surpasses even that of the legendary mage Cristiane Weitzsecker. However, his physical training with Tiffany remains grueling. After a month of relentless running and exercises, Elias has lost considerable weight, but Tiffany still pushes him to his limits.
One day, Tiffany notices Elias's dedication and decides to begin sword training with him, provided he can outrun her for five laps. Despite his exhaustion, Elias manages to almost escape her, but she catches him at the last moment. Impressed by his effort and amused by his reaction, Tiffany agrees to teach him swordsmanship. Elias realizes that Tiffany's harsh training was designed to build his stamina and leg strength, essential for swordsmanship. He begins to learn sword forms, focusing on proper footwork and balance, and finds the process engaging, especially with the help of the Angel Charm. He also discovers that his healing magic can mend the injuries sustained during his rigorous training.
