Thirty years have passed since monsters called 'Magical Beasts' began appearing in Japan. Forced into isolation, the nation has achieved its own unique development.

At one point, it seemed the nation would be destroyed by the Magical Beasts, but then girls who fight by borrowing the power of deities—beings known as 'Magical Girls'—began to appear, and people gradually started to regain peace.

Magical Girls can, quite literally, only be girls—however, exceptions do exist.

"Me, a Magical Girl? ...No, that's absurd."

The boy whose life was saved by a deity, Nanase Tsugumi, has been decreed by divine command to become the Magical Girl [Hagakure Sakura].

Fearing that his true identity would lead to his social ruin if exposed to the public, Tsugumi continued his activities, but he would eventually become entangled in past circumstances and an unavoidable destiny—.
