Chapters 3-12 detail the protagonist's transmigration and subsequent struggles, setting the stage for his future endeavors.
Chapter 3 begins with a brutal scene: a young woman is attacked by a group of thugs in a forest. Their leader, a red-haired man named Gilar, is about to assault her when a warrior with a greatsword intervenes, effortlessly bisecting Gilar. The warrior reveals the sword to be the "Elemental Blade," wielded only by a hero. Simultaneously, the protagonist finds himself in a strange, luminous space, witnessing this event through a "glowing black board." He realizes the slain man shares his name, Gilar, and that the board is a "Book of Prophecy" shown by a being he calls "God." He sees a vision of his own future as Gilar, meeting a miserable end.
Chapter 4 delves into the protagonist's past. He was a simple farmer living with his family until their village was massacred by bandits who used it as a base. He survived by chance, returning late from foraging. Facing a harsh winter alone, he struggled to survive, encountering monsters and poisonous plants. He then spotted a merchant's carriage and, consumed by hatred for their peaceful lives, planned to rob and kill them. However, he noticed a strange door standing alone in the forest. Drawn by an unknown force, he entered it.
Chapter 5 describes the protagonist's entry into a bright, otherworldly space. Before him lay an impossibly luxurious feast. Driven by extreme hunger, he devoured the food, weeping with relief. He was then discovered by a well-dressed man. Terrified, he apologized and offered to work in exchange for the meal. To his surprise, the man, who possessed the ability to instantly create food, offered him simple tasks and food in return. This man, who refused to be called "God" but implied he was something close, taught the protagonist basic calculations and other skills. He also showed the protagonist a vision of the world's future, a prophecy spanning 24 chapters, detailing a hero's arrival to save the world from destruction, but also revealing a grim future for himself.
Chapters 6-12 shift focus to the protagonist's life after this encounter. He returns to the moment before entering the strange door, but with a changed perspective. The hatred he felt towards the merchant family is gone, replaced by an understanding of the "Hero's" words about not imagining others' misfortune while eating. He buries his makeshift weapon and walks away, choosing a different path. He later encounters a deceased adventurer and, despite his past desperation, respectfully drags the body towards a town, motivated by the prophecy's depiction of a hero returning a fallen comrade. This act leads him to be taken in by an adventurer party called "Sakemori" (Sake Party).
The adventurers, Dorel, Miria, Sleyya, and Kurt, initially mistake him for a suspect but, upon learning his story and his village's destruction, offer him food and shelter. They discover that his village, Toneriko, was reported as destroyed three years prior by a monster stampede, contradicting his account of a recent bandit attack. This discrepancy, coupled with the adventurer's death and the suspicious circumstances, leads them to suspect a conspiracy involving the local baron and a human trafficking organization. The protagonist, armed with knowledge from the prophecy, realizes the town of Fagen is a key location from his vision.
The adventurers, realizing the danger, decide to return to the capital. They take the protagonist with them, seeing him as a potential witness and a good deed. During their journey, the protagonist learns more about the world, including the adventurer system and the political machinations. He also begins to suspect the knight he encountered, Carlos Farks, might be connected to the "evil saint knight" from the prophecy, Katina Farks, due to their similar appearance.
The narrative then jumps forward three years. The protagonist, now 15 and a solo adventurer specializing as a thief, has been taken under the wing of the "Sakemori" party. He learns that Sleyya, his mentor, is pregnant with Kurt's child, leading to the party's dissolution. He reflects on his past, the prophecy, and his decision to become an adventurer to prevent the foreseen future. He visits the capital, Zakkal, the prophesied location of the final battle, and encounters Carlos Farks again. Through a series of events, including a drunken revelation and the discovery of a locket, Carlos Farks is revealed to be Katina Farks, who has been using magic to disguise herself as a man. The protagonist, armed with this knowledge, is now on a path to confront the forces of evil, driven by his desire to avert the prophesied destruction and his own grim fate.
