Chapters 3-12 of the light novel detail the lives and developing relationships of several key characters within the kingdom.
The narrative begins with Fabian, a formidable knight known as the "Silverback of the Snowfield," deeply moved by a drawing from his niece, Hanon. Despite his fearsome reputation, Fabian is revealed to be a man of great emotional depth, shedding tears of joy at the thoughtful gift from his young relative, whom he hasn't seen since she was an infant. His subordinate witnesses this display of emotion, further solidifying his loyalty to the kind-hearted knight.
Meanwhile, the focus shifts to the 14-year-old twin sons of Marquis Wise, Keith and Buster. As top students at the junior magic academy, they are destined for the prestigious magic academy. Both twins have become infatuated with a girl named Poiret, whose identity is a mystery to the other students. Their public declarations of affection and possessiveness over Poiret ignite the competitive spirit of the academy's young ladies. The mystery is eventually solved when it's revealed that Poiret is the six-month-old infant granddaughter of Marquis Wise, much to the relief and amusement of the other girls. Shortly after, the twins develop a new fascination with a girl named Melody, sparking another wave of speculation.
Hanon, now married to the royal guard Felix Wise, visits the royal knight headquarters to deliver a forgotten item. She notices an unusual atmosphere and learns from a young knight that the knight order's pharmacists have all fallen ill with food poisoning after a "Yaminabe" (a blind potluck) gathering. This crisis is exacerbated by the fact that several royal palace pharmacists also contracted the same illness. Felix, upon hearing this, volunteers to return to the knight headquarters to manage the situation and seek outside help. Upon arriving, Felix is surprised to find Hanon and her friend Melody, a former royal pharmacist, actively assisting in the overwhelmed infirmary, preparing medicines and treating the injured knights. Felix, exhibiting a surprisingly possessive and jealous streak, takes over the bandaging duties himself, forbidding Hanon from tending to the knights.
Later, Hanon is out for a walk with her children, Lucien and the infant Poiret, when she spots Felix with a beautiful, elegant woman. Hanon experiences a pang of jealousy and worry, but her son Lucien calls out to his father, revealing the woman to be Ashuri Jenson, a viscountess and Felix's childhood friend. Ashuri explains that she was the one who informed Felix's sister, Aria, about a fortune teller who could help Felix find Hanon, thus playing a role in their reunion. Hanon and Felix express their gratitude to Ashuri and her brother, Alto, a renowned spirit magician.
The story then jumps to Poiret, now two years and three months old, in the midst of a strong "terrible twos" phase, where she insists on only being with her older brother, Lucien. The 16-year-old twins, Keith and Buster, visit and are doted on by Poiret, who, despite her refusals, still plays with them.
The narrative then follows three-year-old Michelle, Fabian's daughter, on her first trip to the capital to visit her cousins, Lucien and Poiret. Michelle is excited to meet them and experience new things, like riding a swing built by Felix. She meets Melody, who is immediately taken with Michelle's "gorilla-like" energy and strong physique.
A significant plot point emerges when the first prince, David, proposes to the five-year-old Poiret. Felix vehemently rejects the proposal, stating that the Wise family intends to keep Poiret within the family and not marry her off. This decision is met with shock by Prince Clifford, who argues for the benefits of the alliance. Felix remains resolute, much to his wife Hanon's initial surprise, though she eventually supports his decision. However, Poiret innocently announces her acceptance of David's proposal, leaving Felix in despair and determined to thwart the prince.
Lucien, now nine years old, finds himself increasingly uncomfortable with the attention from girls at social gatherings, who gossip and seek his approval. He expresses a preference for his cousin Michelle, admiring her strength and sincerity.
Later, at a tea party hosted by the Crown Princess, Michelle, now eight, attends with Hanon, Lucien, and Poiret. Michelle is the target of cruel remarks from other young ladies due to her appearance, but Lucien defends her. During a treasure hunt, Michelle's quick thinking and agility lead her and Lucien to victory. Hanon observes a budding affection between Lucien and Michelle.
The story then details the marriage of Buster Wise to Elcy, a magic scholar. Buster, initially hesitant about marriage, falls deeply for Elcy, who is unimpressed by his charm and focuses on his character. Melody becomes Elcy's protector against jealous ladies, much to Buster's amusement and gratitude.
Finally, at another tea party, Prince David, now nine, escorts Poiret, while Lucien escorts Michelle. Despite Felix's attempts to leave early, David's confident demeanor and Poiret's innocent acceptance of his affections hint at their future engagement. Lucien, witnessing the dynamics, feels a sense of foreboding for Poiret and a growing connection with Michelle.
