The protagonist, a NEET and avid player of the free-to-play MMORPG "Element World" (EW), finds himself inexplicably transported into the game's world after watching its movie adaptation. He awakens in a vast forest, transformed into a young, blonde-haired boy, a stark contrast to his former self. Initially, he is overjoyed by this physical transformation, seeing it as a chance for a better life.
Upon exploring his surroundings, he discovers a wooden sword, a bow and arrows, and a peculiar round mirror. Examining himself in the mirror, he realizes he is no longer his former self but a child with a Western appearance. He also finds a leaf-filled box, which he initially mistakes for a lunchbox, and learns that the leaves are bitter and inedible. His immediate goal is to find sustenance and understand his new reality.
He ventures through the forest, eventually finding a river with a waterfall. While drinking the clean water, he discovers that some fruits, like apples, have glowing blue icons above them, revealing their names and properties, such as "Aruringo" with a healing effect. He also finds a knife, which he uses to fashion a wooden spear, enabling him to gather apples. He learns that these items have system-like information displays, confirming this is not his original world.
Using his newfound knife and gathered materials, he successfully creates fire, a significant achievement that provides warmth and a sense of security. The next day, he attempts to fish, using his wooden spears and managing to catch an "Arunijimasu." While preparing the fish, he discovers a golden icon that reveals his status: "Nameless, Adventurer LV1," with basic stats and skills like Swordsmanship, Sniping, and Cooking. He realizes his original name has been forgotten, and he adopts the name "Juralial de Balush."
He learns from Heat and Ria, a kind middle-aged man and a young girl who rescued him from a dragon-like creature, that this world operates on levels, magic, and spirits. He discovers that his knife, while useful for preparing food, is not a weapon capable of harming monsters due to a "blue circle" indicator, unlike weapons with a "red circle." Heat, a blacksmith, offers him shelter and food, and they discuss the world's mechanics.
He learns about spirits, which people use for various purposes, and the existence of "Spirit Users" and the powerful "Spirit Gods." He also learns about "Divine Beasts," which are corrupted Spirit Users. Heat explains that while he has no spirits, he can potentially contract with one at a nearby shrine. He also learns about the town of Ritalia, protected by a giant tree called Yggdrasil, and the town's peculiar, cursed gatekeepers who are unable to leave their posts.
The narrative arc sees the protagonist transition from confusion and disbelief to a determined acceptance of his new reality. He gains basic survival skills, learns about the world's systems, and begins to forge relationships. The chapters establish the core conflict of survival in a fantasy world and hint at the protagonist's potential to become a powerful Spirit User, mirroring his past achievements in "Element World."
