The chapters detail the aftermath of the Demon Lord's defeat and the subsequent adventures of the former hero's party, focusing on the character Ril.
Following the Demon Lord's demise, a grand parade celebrates the hero, Earth, and his companions: Erin (a former sister), Igor (a former fighter), Kate (a former mage), and Ril (a former magic swordsman). Ril, a young woman raised in a military facility and unfamiliar with the outside world, finds the parade tiresome. Earth, a kind-hearted individual summoned from another world to defeat the Demon Lord, is celebrated. Kate, a sarcastic mage, expresses his disdain for the fanfare. Erin, now Earth's lover, is more accommodating. Igor, a large fighter, also supports Earth. Ril, despite her exceptional combat skills, harbors unrequited feelings for Earth and feels overlooked. She was scouted by Earth after excelling in the military facility designed to train anti-Demon Lord soldiers. After the parade, the King offers rewards. Earth marries Erin and becomes a knight. Igor receives wealth and a title. Kate is pardoned for his past actions and becomes a court mage. Ril, however, requests only freedom and is granted a secluded life in a cottage near the forest, funded by the kingdom but under their surveillance.
Five years pass, and Ril enjoys her peaceful life, rejecting offers to become a knight. Her tranquility is shattered when a voice in her dream identifies itself as the Goddess, the one who summoned Earth. The Goddess declares Ril the chosen "Savior" for a new era, stating that Ril's idle time spent in her room makes her a suitable candidate, much like Earth was. Ril protests, but the Goddess insists that those with power who live idly have no right to refuse. The Goddess then abruptly teleports Ril to another world.
Ril awakens in the sky and plummets towards the ground, unable to use magic to stop her fall. She lands on a series of fabric roofs, slowing her descent, and is ultimately caught by a young man with blond hair and blue eyes. This man, Jin, a bounty hunter with a questionable moral compass, immediately attempts to apprehend Ril for property damage, producing handcuffs. Ril, disoriented and unable to use her magic, pushes him away and flees into the unfamiliar, grimy city of Hell City.
Jin pursues Ril relentlessly. She finds herself cornered in an alley, where she is then confronted by two thugs who intend to sell her. Ril, despite her inability to use magic, uses her combat skills to incapacitate them with a knife. However, Jin reappears, having tracked her. He easily recaptures Ril, subduing her with surprising strength and speed, and handcuffs her.
Ril awakens in a cell, which the merchant Cedric reveals is part of a slave market. Cedric explains that Jin is a bounty hunter who captures criminals and sells non-criminals into slavery. Ril is informed that she has already been sold and her buyer is arriving soon. Desperate, Ril calls out to the Goddess, but receives no response, feeling abandoned and realizing her magic has been suppressed.
In the slave market, Ril learns that Hell City is a lawless place where outsiders are easily exploited. She meets another slave who warns her about the city's dangers and the likelihood of her buyer being a pervert. When her buyer, a large, one-eyed man named Arnold, arrives, Cedric explains he owns an illegal fighting arena where he pits humans against beasts. Arnold takes the other slave, who is quickly killed.
Cedric then reveals Ril's buyer is not Arnold, but implies he is also a "bad sort." Ril resolves to escape before being handed over. She learns from Cedric that Hell City is a place where slaves cannot leave without their owner and are hunted if they try. She also discovers a slave brand on her neck, confirming her status.
Jin, the bounty hunter, returns to collect Ril. He reveals he bought her because he desired her and that the brand prevents her escape. He explains that women in Hell City often disguise themselves as men to avoid becoming victims. Jin proposes Ril work as his partner in his bounty hunting business, initially intending her as a "pet" but now seeing potential in her strength. Ril, though wary, considers this better than being a mere plaything.
That night, the Goddess appears in Ril's dream, congratulating her on finding a "travel companion" and tasking her with destroying a weapon in the country of Medusa, before disappearing again. Ril is left frustrated and still a slave in a dangerous new world.
