Q The main quest is clearly leading me to a bad end, but is this a bug?

A No, it's a feature. The depressing bad end is the true end.

Q I don't like it, so I'm throwing this "Kill your companions" quest marker right back at you.

This is the story of a greedy explorer who died in a modern dungeon, then, starting as a slave in an open-world fantasy world, gradually climbs his way up.

He becomes a baker, popularizes hot dogs across the nation, preaches the concept of dieting and the joy of saunas to nobles, treats orphans in unscrupulous ways by making them work harsh shifts at his bakery as cheap labor (15 hours of monthly overtime, full two-day weekends, benefits, and annual paid leave included, by modern ethical standards), becomes a tutor to a high-born noble brat, engages in power struggles with the "quest marker woman" in his head, becomes a dragon's kept man, and even gets turned into a vampire's snack.

Q I don't have a stable livelihood, what should I do?

A How about earning your daily bread as an adventurer while running a bakery with a lizard?

Q If I had done as you said, that lizard would be dead. Don't you have anything to say for yourself?

A You didn't listen to me, threw away the quest marker, and ignored the main quest, didn't you? That's why the lizard is alive. Isn't that good enough?

Q I'm coming to kick your ass someday.

A You threw away the main quest, only focused on side quests, and are completely enjoying your adventurer life, aren't you? Doing whatever you please, lol.

Since the main quest is so insistent on a depressing end, I will completely ignore it and live an enjoyable adventurer life.

The greedy adventurer, following his desires, will smash through the depressing end and head towards a happy one.

The protagonist can fight reasonably well but isn't the strongest. However, he does possess trump cards that give him a fighting chance against any enemy (with risks).

*Note: While there are game-like expressions, please rest assured that this is not a dream ending, virtual space, or VR game ending. The author detests those types of endings as if they "killed his parents."
