Sid, a C-rank solo adventurer, begins his journey exploring the Dungeon <Hanoi> near the Altoras Kingdom's northwestern frontier city of Ronde. Sid, a tall man with long dark blonde hair and a half-beard, is a formidable fighter who deliberately avoids promotion to B-rank or higher to maintain his freedom from mandatory national or noble quests. His visit to <Hanoi> is a nostalgic farewell to his old training ground, which the Adventurer's Guild announced would soon be sealed due to mana depletion and risk of collapse.
Deep within <Hanoi>, Sid experiences a profound turning point. He encounters the dungeon's sentient spirit, which reveals its impending demise and identifies Sid as a "Regenerator" possessing the incredibly rare "Dungeon Repair" skill, along with an "Item Box" skill Sid was previously unaware of. Sid agrees to help, activating "Dungeon Repair" to channel his magic and regenerate the dungeon. Exhausted, he is rewarded by <Hanoi> with the "Item Box" skill, making him fully aware of his unique abilities. This pivotal event confirms Sid's immense power and the urgent need for secrecy to avoid being exploited by powerful factions.
A month later, Sid arrives in Consalva, a lively southern port city, where he reconnects with Adventurer's Guild receptionist Casey and a cheerful young D-rank adventurer, Cheche. He learns <Hanoi> has indeed recovered, validating his actions. Sid researches his skills, confirming "Item Box" allows time-stopped storage and "Dungeon Repair" is historically known by only two others, reinforcing his need for a low profile. He also kindly assists a lost 7-year-old boy, Duran, at the library, later discovering Duran is the son of merchant Maccoly Tseriy.
Sid accepts an escort quest for Maccoly's Tseriy Trading Company, joining the C-rank party "Dragon's Wing" (Perrin the B-rank Lancer and leader, Lunaref the Wizard, Terence the Thief, and Mead the Priest). During the journey, Sid's true age (23) surprises his companions, who initially perceived him as older. Maccoly, who also possesses a lower-capacity "Item Box," provides the party with a hot, delicious meal, showcasing the skill's practical use.
On night watch, Sid discovers signs of robbers scouting their camp. The next morning, the party is ambushed by ten robbers. Sid, utilizing his body enhancement and wind magic, demonstrates exceptional combat prowess, quickly incapacitating the attackers without killing them. Mead protects the non-combatants with a barrier, while Lunaref and Terence provide support. The robbers are captured, and Sid, displaying unexpected horsemanship, leads them to the next town, Epo.
In Epo, the robbers are handed over to the Knight Order. Commander Malmus confirms the robbers were part of a group that had been plaguing the area, ensuring the adventurers receive a reward. At the Epo Adventurer's Guild, Guild Master Daryl, aware of Sid's reputation for avoiding B-rank promotion, processes the reward. Sid requests his name be kept off public records, a request Daryl reluctantly grants. Daryl also hints that Mead will likely receive a B-rank promotion invitation, highlighting the contrast with Sid's deliberate choice to remain C-rank. The journey continues, with Sid having deepened his relationships and further navigated the complexities of his hidden powers and desire for freedom.
