The protagonist, Yuren Mercadel, is a young man who was once addicted to the game "Fantasia Historia." He found the game lost its appeal once his characters became too powerful, leading him to repeatedly restart with new characters and weaker jobs to maintain a sense of challenge. He discovered a "Cursed Bracelet" item in the game that forcibly resets the wearer's level to 1, allowing him to engage in "challenge runs" or "nuzlocke runs" that he found immensely satisfying.
Upon being reincarnated into a world that mirrors "Fantasia Historia," Yuren decides to apply the same "challenge run" philosophy to his new life. On his 15th birthday, during the Status Ceremony, he wishes for the "Alchemist" job, a class considered weak by societal standards, to continue his preferred playstyle. His father, a "Sword Saint," is enraged by this choice, as he expected Yuren to become a strong successor to their noble family. Yuren's half-brother, Imanol, receives the "Sword Saint" job, leading their father to disown Yuren and cast him out of the family estate.
Embracing his newfound freedom and the "challenge run" of being an outcast, Yuren immediately crafts the "Cursed Bracelet" using his Alchemist skill "Processing" and pre-gathered materials. He then begins his journey, aiming to level up by defeating monsters while remaining at level 1. He starts by hunting weak goblins, discovering that the Cursed Bracelet doubles experience and SP gained due to the disparity between his level 1 status and the monsters' levels. He uses his first SP to acquire the "Appraisal" skill, which allows him to gather information about monsters and adventurers.
Yuren then focuses on crafting "Hand Grenades" using "Scorching Rocks" and "Hard Seeds," which become his primary weapon due to their fixed damage output, bypassing his low attack stat. He successfully defeats a "Jackalope," a level 12 monster, using his grenades and gaining enough SP to learn "Aim Assist," a skill that enhances ranged accuracy.
His next target is a "Bugbear," a level 32 monster. Yuren lures it into a pre-dug pitfall trap, bombards it with hand grenades, and then finishes it off by shooting it in the eye with a poisoned arrow, a strategy honed through his "Fantasia Historia" experience. This victory earns him significant SP, allowing him to learn "Item Box" and "Crafting," essential skills for managing his inventory and creating items.
Yuren then registers as an adventurer at the Guild, where his ability to carry the Bugbear's materials surprises the receptionist, who attributes it to his "Item Box" skill. He declines an offer to join a newcomer training program, preferring to solo.
His next targets are a "Venomous Frog" (level 10) to gather poison, and then a "Man-Bipedal Wolf" (level 61). He uses the poison to create "Poisoned Arrows" and "Malodorous Liquid," the latter of which he uses to disorient the wolf and lure it towards a cliff. He then jumps off the cliff, forcing the wolf to follow, and defeats it while it's incapacitated. He uses the accumulated SP to upgrade "Appraisal" to level 3, "Processing" to level 4, and "Crafting" to level 4, and learns "Item Switching."
Yuren then encounters a "Giant Spider" (level 102), which he fights using "Poisoned Arrows." He also uses "Malodorous Liquid" to mask his scent from the spider's keen senses. During the prolonged battle, a "Tyrannosaurus Rex" (level 285) intervenes, killing the spider instantly. Yuren, unfazed, sees this as an exciting new challenge and prepares to fight the Tyrannosaurus Rex with a poisoned knife.
