Anabelle, the Count's daughter, found her engagement to her cousin broken off on grounds of infidelity, immediately after her father's death. Though it was an entirely false accusation, Anabelle disliked her cousin anyway and gladly accepted the broken engagement as a stroke of good fortune. However, the bracelet her cousin forced onto Anabelle as 'proof' of her infidelity carried a powerful curse. A special item was required to break the curse, so Anabelle relocated from the provinces to the royal capital to obtain it. There, she coincidentally met a Duke who possessed the very item she sought. Thankfully, she was granted the item, and in return, Anabelle agreed to the Duke's request to become his fake fiancée.
