Daikichi Yoshikawa, a second-year high school student, witnesses his childhood friend and girlfriend, Akari, cheating. When he confronts her, she readily admits it and dumps him on the spot.

Daikichi, told by Akari that he isn't "man enough," decides to acquire manliness by embarking on a two-week survival life on his grandfather's uninhabited island.

One day, with only a few days left of his island life, he discovers a beautiful girl, Yukiho, washed ashore on the beach. She is a national idol, but Daikichi, who doesn't watch TV, helps her, thinking she's just a cute girl.

This encounter leads to Yukiho confessing her feelings to Daikichi. They start dating.

Yukiho and Daikichi's relationship becomes known throughout Japan via television.

Naturally, it catches Akari's eye.

And then, belatedly, she tries to get back together with Daikichi――.
