Arianne, born as the eldest daughter of a count's family, was neglected upon the birth of her younger sister, Margaret,

and grew up in her uncle, the Duke's, mansion.

She pledged herself to Lionel, the Duke's son, with whom she had grown up, but her father forcibly took her back to the count's estate.
