Margaret Moore, a baron's daughter and a mere lady-in-waiting, finds her life abruptly upended when she is accused of attempting to manipulate Princess Viola through her unique skill, "Gardening." Despite her protests that her skill only allows her to tend to plants and her role in the court was purely professional, she is sentenced to exile on the undeveloped East Island, Est Island. There, she is to serve as a maid in the manor of Marquis Ricardo Alessia, a nobleman also exiled under suspicion.
Upon arrival, Margaret is surprised to find the Marquis to be a strikingly handsome and refined man, who treats her with surprising equality despite their station difference. She is further astonished to discover that the manor is impeccably maintained, with all domestic tasks seemingly handled by the Marquis himself, who admits to being a meticulous homemaker and has neglected his duties of developing the island. Margaret, initially anxious about the expanded workload, finds herself drawn to the task of clearing the overgrown grasslands surrounding the manor.
Her "Gardening" skill, previously a source of ridicule, proves invaluable. She expertly removes a tenacious weed called "Suge-grass," which had been hindering the Marquis's attempts to cultivate the land. This demonstration of her skill impresses Ricardo, who recognizes its potential for land development. He proposes a role reversal: Margaret will focus on land clearing and gardening, while he will resume his domestic duties.
Margaret's skill soon evolves. After a week of relentless weeding, her skill card updates from "Gardening" to "Reclamation," indicating a significant upgrade. This newfound ability allows her to communicate with plant-based monsters. When a powerful Treant, a sentient tree monster, begins to rampage, Margaret discovers it is suffering from an infestation of "Magic Rats" that are biting its bark. She negotiates with the Treant, promising to eliminate the pests.
With Ricardo's assistance, Margaret crafts poisonous dumplings using a toxic weed she previously identified with her skill. They strategically place these traps, successfully eradicating the Magic Rats. The Treant, relieved and grateful, offers a reward for their help. Margaret, now confident in her evolved skill and her ability to contribute to the island's development, embraces her new role, her initial despair replaced by a sense of purpose and belonging.
