The story follows Theo, a low-ranking knight in the Kingdom of Listoria, who endures constant abuse and menial tasks from his superior, Captain Bram. Four years prior, Theo intervened when Bram attempted to assault a female knight, but Bram framed Theo for the crime, narrowly avoiding a death sentence by claiming he would "train" Theo into submission. This resulted in Theo being treated as a slave within the knight order, unable to leave without facing criminal charges. His days are filled with cleaning, armor maintenance, and cooking, all under Bram's malicious supervision.
A turning point arrives when Bram's unit is assigned to a monster extermination mission near a village. While his comrades are excited by the prospect of real combat, Theo, who wishes to avoid conflict, is tasked with retrieving all the spare swords from the armory. During this task, he encounters Ferris Inglus, the captain he once tried to protect, who now views him with contempt, still believing Bram's lies.
The unit arrives at a village plagued by a B-rank monster, identified by large footprints. Bram, confident in his unit's strength, leads them to the monster's supposed location. Theo is sent ahead to scout, where he notices the unnatural silence of the forest and a single, unusually large footprint. He deduces that the monster must be airborne. Suddenly, a dragon, an A-rank monster, appears and attacks the knights, killing several. Bram orders a retreat, but in the chaos, he kicks Theo off the wagon, using him as a decoy to escape.
Facing certain death, Theo resigns himself to his fate, wishing he had been needed by someone. However, a silver-haired woman named Rei Silverhorn intervenes, effortlessly severing the dragon's arms and then its head. Rei, a renowned S-rank adventurer known as the "Silver Princess," reveals she was tracking the dragon. She offers Theo a position in her household, providing him with food, shelter, and a generous salary, as she needs someone to manage her home while she adventures. Rei's offer stems from her ability to sense people's sincerity and her own lack of domestic skills.
Theo, overwhelmed by Rei's kindness and the prospect of a life free from abuse, accepts. They return to Rei's grand but neglected mansion. Theo, accustomed to hardship, begins cleaning, while Rei, despite her immense power, admits to being bad at housework. They discover Rei's magical bag can store vast quantities of items, including the dragon's carcass. Rei, impressed by Theo's cooking skills, asks him to prepare meals for her, and Theo, in turn, is touched by her desire for his company.
During their first meal together, Rei expresses her desire for Theo to sleep in her room, citing his need for comfort and her own desire for his presence. Theo, initially hesitant due to his past trauma, eventually agrees, realizing Rei's sincerity. He finds solace in her presence, his frozen emotions beginning to thaw. Rei promises to protect him, and Theo, feeling truly needed for the first time, pledges his life to her. The story concludes with Theo embracing this new beginning, his first day in a life where he is valued.
