The narrative follows Kageyama Eimu, a protagonist who values rationality above all else. His life takes a turn when he's confronted by a delinquent from another class who accuses him of being too familiar with a girl named Hoshisho. The delinquent, fueled by irrational jealousy, physically assaults Eimu, labeling him an "introverted" Archer, a job class widely perceived as for social outcasts. This encounter highlights the societal prejudice against Archers, who are often seen as useless and strange.
Following this incident, Eimu retreats to a nearby dungeon, a common practice for adventurers in this world where individuals possess unique "Gifts" and can choose "Jobs." Eimu's Gift is "Certain Hit," which guarantees his attacks will always land, and his chosen Job is Archer. He acknowledges the disadvantages of being an Archer: a lack of specialized skills and balanced stat growth, making them versatile but not exceptional. His daily routine involves grinding experience by defeating monsters to level up and overcome these limitations.
During one such session, Eimu levels up and gains the "Intuition" skill, which allows him to sense life forms within a 25-meter radius. He quickly realizes the synergy between "Intuition" and "Certain Hit": he can now attack enemies without direct line of sight, significantly reducing risk and increasing efficiency. This discovery marks a turning point, allowing him to progress rapidly through the dungeon floors. He progresses from Level 2 to Level 9 in a week, acquiring new skills like "Observation Eye," "Arrow Generation," "Trap Creation," "Minor Healing," "Attribute Infusion," "Decoy," and "Stealth." His efficient "hit-and-run" strategy, combined with his growing skill set, allows him to conquer increasingly difficult monsters, even defeating a boss-level monster on the seventh floor from a safe distance.
The story then shifts to Eimu's school life at Leonis Adventurer Academy, a prestigious institution for training adventurers. He witnesses the harsh reality of a meritocratic system where weaker students are ostracized. He is unexpectedly paired with Hoshisho Hina for a dungeon practical. Hina, a cheerful and popular Paladin, is unaware of the previous confrontation and considers Eimu a friend. Eimu, despite his initial reluctance due to the potential for further trouble, agrees to the pairing. During the practical, Hina's partner, Ryuoka, a delinquent who was also involved in the earlier incident, manipulates the situation to separate Eimu and Hina. Ryuoka's true motive appears to be his infatuation with Hina and his desire to eliminate Eimu from the picture.
However, when Hina and Ryuoka are cornered by a horde of Kobolds in the second dungeon floor, Eimu, despite his rational inclination to avoid unnecessary risks, intervenes. He uses his combat skills, including a borrowed greatsword and his "Attribute Infusion" skill, to fight alongside Hina, protecting her and ultimately defeating the monsters. This act of bravery, though framed by Eimu as a "rational" decision to protect a valuable ally, reveals a developing emotional connection.
Following the dungeon incident, Eimu and Hina go on what appears to be a date. Eimu's rational worldview is challenged by Hina's perspective on clothing and social interaction. He also learns about a rare accessory, the "Bracelet of Evil Repulsion," which enhances his attacks against monsters. Further leveling up, Eimu acquires the "Triple Shot" skill, which, when combined with "Certain Hit," allows him to fire three arrows simultaneously, significantly boosting his offensive power. He then learns the "Penetration" skill, which allows his arrows to pierce through enemies, and when combined with "Certain Hit," creates a devastating double-strike effect. This rapid progression and acquisition of powerful skills solidify Eimu's unique combat style and his growing strength.
