The story begins with Honda Makoto, a weary home center employee, walking home after a long day of work. Exhausted from understaffing and demanding tasks, she looks forward to her rare day off and her favorite pastime: watching superhero anime. On her way home, she is accosted by a middle-aged man, but her stern, emotionless threat of "I'll kill you" quickly scares him away. Upon arriving at her apartment, Makoto collapses from exhaustion, falling asleep at her doorstep.
She awakens in a vast, grassy field under a blue sky, disoriented and confused. Two children with animal ears and fantastical clothing flee from her, leaving her questioning if she's in heaven or a dream. A status window appears in her mind, displaying her name, "Honda=Mako," and basic stats, further solidifying her belief that this is a dream. However, the presence of titles like "DIY Master" and "Green Master" sparks her curiosity.
Makoto encounters the same two children again, a boy named Maul and his twin brother Meara. They explain they are near Abatox village and warn her of an approaching storm. Maul, the kinder of the two, offers Makoto shelter, despite Meara's distrust of humans. Makoto, a home center employee with a keen sense of disaster preparedness, accepts their offer. They arrive at the twins' dilapidated home, which is barely more than a shack. Makoto, realizing she might have been reincarnated into another world, decides to help the twins reinforce their home against the storm. Using her belt-mounted tool bag, she improvises an "angle bracket" from a farming tool's wedge and a monkey wrench. This act triggers a new skill: "Alchemy." She discovers she can create metal objects, and with it, she crafts numerous angle brackets and nails, reinforcing the twins' home just as the storm hits.
The next morning, the villagers, who are werewolves (Beowulf), are amazed to find the twins' house miraculously intact after the severe storm. They are shocked to see a human woman, Makoto, inside. Maul defends her, calling her a "magic user" who saved their home. While the villagers are initially suspicious, Makoto's ability to reinforce their homes with her "alchemy" begins to earn their trust, though some remain wary due to past grievances with humans. Makoto learns that the Beowulf were driven to this remote area by humans and are discriminated against.
Makoto's "alchemy" skill is further tested when she encounters a large, white wolf, the village's sacred guardian, who has eaten poisonous berries. Her "Pet Master" title awakens a "Dialogue" skill, allowing her to communicate with the wolf, named Entia. She uses her alchemy to create a metal rod to induce vomiting, saving Entia. This act significantly improves the villagers' perception of her.
Makoto continues to help the village by reinforcing their homes with her alchemy, receiving food in return. She also discovers her "DIY Master" title allows her to create metal objects, but creating items outside her expertise, like swords, consumes all her MP. She attempts to create swords, referencing a real katana she once saw, and successfully crafts five, though they are initially deemed "blunt" by a drunken adventurer. The adventurer returns, angry about the "dull sword," but Makoto calmly offers a refund. The adventurer, surprisingly, accepts the refund and leaves, leaving Makoto to ponder the nature of customers.
Later, a man named Ixa, a researcher from a magic institute and a prince of the Growga Kingdom, approaches Makoto. He recognizes the swords as "magic swords" capable of great power in the hands of magic users. He buys all five swords for a substantial sum of gold, offering Makoto a position at his institute. Makoto, still adjusting to this new world and her powers, agrees to visit.
The group celebrates their earnings at a nice inn. Meara, the more reserved twin, finally apologizes to Makoto for his distrust, revealing the tragic past of his parents' death due to human negligence. Makoto, touched by his sincerity, offers to share a bath, which Meara initially refuses but eventually seems to consider.
The next day, Makoto visits the magic institute. She is greeted by Ixa, who reveals himself as the seventh prince and director of the institute. He is excited about the magic swords and wants to learn more about Makoto's abilities, suggesting she might be a valuable asset to his research.
